I see brilliant troll/rumor/etc. threads get locked all the time. I understand the purpose of the forums, but I think many "no content" threads should stay, if only because this is the kind of stuff that shapes an online community.

It seems these days, something like a "what ship is this" thread would get locked immediately. I propose a solution: Instead of locking a thread, throw it in "The Pit." This would be a place where almost anything is allowed, sans OOPE-type discussion. You can lock the dev-bashing, but trolling/drama is where a lot of great forum memes are born.

The game is a sandbox. The community should be, too.

If you troll this thread, you are doing it right.

Sorry, I just never got to do that.

Interesting idea, but sometimes locking is a better choice. In my opinion. Which isn't worth much these days.

I'd prefer not. They had to hire another flotilla of GMs to keep the pit clean. Because face it, people would misuse it.

Not really. If it get's locked and sent to "The Pit"; at least these threads are conglomerated somewhere and do not require further checking.

The only way to have a thread in "The Pit" means it would have to be moved there by a GM or something.

I like the part of the new rule where this place is supposed to better the game.
