Hitler wardecs the rest of Europe. US troops land on Normandy but cannot shoot the Nazi soldiers because their allies couldn't afford to pay the trillion isk per 2 weeks for their allies to join since the Nazi's bombed all of Britan to rubble.
Result: Western Europe falls and Nazi-Germany or CCCP (Sovjet Union) establishes itself as world's unrivaled superpower.

Silly CCP. This is what your world would look like.

I was refering to Germany's furher during the second world war of course... Didn't realize his name would be censored. Quite funny and annoying at the same time as it's essential to my point.

Man, you're right! It's not like WWII cost trillions of dollars or anything. And it's a good thing that the UN both existed and had fighter jets.

Heh... Clever... But what you're implying with your sarcasm isn't comparable. Yes, WWII cost sh*tloads... But certainly not because Britain added to their list of allies. War in eve still costs a lot when ships starts going down the drain and that's where the cost of from WWII came too... Massive wareffort. That cost money. Not broadcasting who your allies are. Right?

The point I'm ultimately trying to make is that if you want a wardec system that isn't just a tool for the bigger fish to pick on the not so big fish. This is not a good way to do it. Wardecs used to be that. 1.1 will still make it just that. Boring... Good thought, but exicution needs a little work, CCP.

So what I think will be broken in 1.1:

Giving the attacker a massive advantage by making it impossible for the defenders to gain numbers equal to that of a massive alliance. This is not war. It's just pillage.

I do however, in the spirit of fun, think that the defenders shouldn't be able to have unlimited allies... The consequences of that would be pretty obvious. Nobody would wardec eachother for fear of being massively outnumbered for one.

So I suggest a middleground:

  • Defenders can add allies to the point that each side has roughly the same ammount of members. Meaning that if a corp of 100 gets wardeced by a massive alliance of 3000 members, the defending corp can add allies, mercs or otherwise, to around 2900 members. This equals out the playingfield enourmously rather than what it was, is, and will be with 1.1. Of course you're gonna end up with something like... a 0.0 alliance deccing a smaller alliance and they add up allies to fight in hisec and the pilots from 0.0 end up being outnumbered there. Well... And then maybe you'll get a mutual war... Well... going to war has it's risks... And if that 0.0 alliance can't pull out numbers to fight back in hisec they probably shouldn't have gone to war to begin with.

  • As for mercs... Well... Right now there's not a market for them. That might change with a fix like this, but CCP, don't try to force a market to open if it's not needed. Bad bad baaaad things happen.
