Just returned after 2 years, and although i am in love with the char customization, the options for my existing character arent my fav.

I have 3.4m skill points, and am unfamiliar with new player experience etc... how long will it take me to recoop these points if i started over for a better look?

Do you have your character up on eveboard ( http://eveboard.com )?

Where did you devote the SP/skills you trained?

About six or seven weeks.

You get 86,400 sp a day. That works about 2,592,000 sp a month. If you have extra char slots you might want to keep your current character as an alt for things like PI, scouting, jita, etc.

I am not up on eveboard yet sorry,
most skills were in leadership, spaceship command (minmatar mostly) and gunnery.

It's up to you in the end. I really wanted to come back to EVE but couldn't afford it so I sold a 20m SP character to get plex money.

Do I often miss my skillpoints? Yes.
Am I enjoying a low-sp friendly corp anyway? Yes.

For your 3.5m SP I would say go for it. If you don't, a year from now you will still be unhappy with your character and wish you had just spent 2 months retraining. Maybe you can even focus on a different race or ship type so it still feels new.

Do you have spare slots on your account?

Otherwise, look at which race/bloodline gives you the aesthetics you're most interested in, and consider buying a character from the Bazaar with that bloodline and a few SP invested in skills you're going to use :)

I don't think that is possible for anyone.

About 50,000 SP per day would be better estimate, which is 1,5 million SP per month. So 3.4m SP would be a bit over 2 months.

Some people "don't care" about their character looks, background and related things and others very much do. I'm one of the latter and I can relate to how the avatar changes made me lose interest in some of my characters but again it's a personal thing. While throwing away SP is "silly" it's about how you perceive the game and what you find important. I you are one of those like me then that thought of not being happy with your char will keep gnawing and at some point you will succumb to it so you might as well take the bull by the horns and do it now, your SP count really isn't that high so it doesn't matter much.

Here's what I would do, assuming you have the isk for it.

- create a buddy account and select a plex as your gift
- take your time to research the different races (to have an idea on how they can look use this site and see what can be done) and make a choice on race looks and racial ship capabilities
- take your TIME to create a character on that new account, pick a good name and looks
- send 500 mil to that new char from your current one, have him buy a plex and apply it. This now means you have a full account that lasts for 51 days. The trick is that you get your gift, a plex, back on your main account for it. So the actual cost of making this full account is zero
- have both accounts exist alongside eachother, this gives you almost 2 months to figure out if you like the new char better or if you're still at ease with the old one and at the end of that period make a choice

If you need help with figuring out which racial ships do what then mail me ingame or just convo if you see me online.

= 3600 sp/hour
= 60 sp/min

With optimal remap and +5 you can have 32 in 1 attr and 26 in another.

That is 45 sp/min.

Where are you getting those extra 15?

Yes. If the body-job hasn't been done yet, Inferno expansion introduced new skin tones and allowed everyone one new reshape.
About buying chars, sure it can be an idea for someone willing to have a trained set of skills without waitting, but it's a matter of choice and buying SP doesn't grant you game skills if you're completely new to the game so you can end up with a character whose name isn't your own choice, lots of skillpoints but maybe no idea how to properly use them and an impersonnal toon someone else modeled.
I wouldn't buy one myself, it feels like someone else's wife, you don't really feel home.

Not much. Less than 100k I believe, I don't know exactly.

No. It was removed when learning skills were removed. Players now have higher base attributes than before, and also no need to train learning skills, so new player boost wasn't needed anymore.

So based on my evemon for my current main i have:
3,400,000 sp in Gunnery > Spaceship command > Engineering > Mechanics > other
I also have 800,000 unspent fromt he leadership refund.

thats 4,200,000 available

hes training at 56,000sp per day currently.

Thats 75 days of sp that i would lose by rerolling.

As much as i dislike the look of my character, thats a hard pill to swallow, am i missing anything here? is there any incentive for new players to get a reasonable amount of sp quickly?

No, that's pretty much what it boils down to. Just realise that this is a long term game and only you know if somewhere down the line you'll get annoyed by the issues you have with your current char, only you can decide which is more important.

The only thing you will lose is you hard work!

There is never any reason to restart for the sake of skillpoints, the only thing you are losing is your time!

You can learn anything and everything and you just need to get out there and focus less on your "skill points" and worry more about your "piloting skill". EVE really asks a lot of you as a PERSON to be a good player, the skill points only help pace you so that you have to work towards the good stuff.

You can always file a petition and ask for a Character Creation remake. I don't think CCP has implemented ability to switch gender or race though..

As for the skills, seems a shame to waste them due to not liking how your character looks.

My bad, for some reason I thought it was a SP a second...

Well that explains why my calculations have been off.

Exact formula is primary_attribute * 60 + secondary_attribute * 30 = skillpoints per hour

Is this purely a cosmetic choice? If not, why not just keep the points while working towards whatever you want?
