Assassins in EVE

Hello,

so I've seen some "indications" out there in the fiction-pages that there are some assassins in different government divisions.
One that caught my attention was the Gallente Intelligence Service that seemed to have a group of black operatives called the "Black Eagles". I would like to know from you what you think about all this. Does the "peaceful" gallente really have government protected assassins among them?

Does anyone know of any other types of assassins by chance? any race or corporations that have some history involving it?

Thank you.

The Evelopedia article on the Black Eagles can be found here.

I can't think of any other NATIONAL assassination "services", but you can be sure there are a fair number of assassins hanging out in all four of the main empires, let alone all the pirate 'nations'.

I think one can say with 100% assurance that maybe not as public as the eagles, That every major empire has people who do dirty jobs when dirty jobs have to be done. As long as there is humanity somewhere there will be a group that does Cloak and Dagger stuff. Simple fact of government operations, you have people who do unpleasant things and do them in the shadows because they are morally or politically unpopular.

I would not be surprised if Wars have been prevented in the EVE setting lore by the right person getting whacked.

EVE is like swimming on a beach in shark infested waters,  There is however a catch...  The EVE Beach you also have to wonder which fellow swimmer will try and eat you before the sharks.

All empires have their own internal security organizations, which occasionally assassinate troublemakers. And of course, if the target is in space, they may hire capsuleers (i.e. players) for wetwork. As for public offices, all Caldari megacorps have their own private police-militaries, of which at least Hyasyoda's Corporate Police Force has a reputation for counterintelligence and Nugoeihuvi's Internal Security as simply hired thugs. Amarr Empire has its Ministry of Internal Order and the inquisitors proper of the Theology Council. Minmatar... well, I don't know well, but I'd assume the Republic Security Service isn't too soft-handed with some of its cases either.

Looking at missions (been some time since I've missioned for Gallente or Minmatar though) I'd assume that all empires and all corps hire pod pilots to do some dirty work, too. And then there's the non-capsuleer mercs, such as Mordu's Legion, who also do assassinations.

Exactly, if something goes wrong during a mission.. they can wash their hands of the issue if there is too much collateral damage blame the pod ship in the police report. If the ship explodes you do not lose any valued corp members. All players are pretty much independent contractors... we are pretty much like Blackwater if they had spaceships.

Assassins in Eve? Impossible! I'll... assassinate them! Assassinate them all!
