Arbitrator is great for Level 2 missions. Fit like so;

[Arbitrator, Level 2]
Drone Damage Amplifier II
[empty low slot]
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Medium Armor Repairer II

Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
Cap Recharger II
10MN Afterburner II

Small Tractor Beam I
Small Tractor Beam I
Salvager I
Civilian Gatling Pulse Laser, Civilian Pulse Crystal

Medium Drone Speed Augmentor I
Medium Anti-Kinetic Pump I
Medium Anti-Explosive Pump I

Hammerhead II x5
Hobgoblin II x5

Empty low slot fit with a mission specific hardener; Rigs should be fit to your region's damage type in the case of missions.
Civilian gun is, obviously, for gathering aggro. Salvager and tractors are optional, refit with weapons if you feel like it.

Hey and thanks for the reply. Do the low slots look ok?

The lows are OK. Change them depending on what you experience. You might have fun with a kill-them-before-they-damage-you 'tank', putting just tracking enhancers and heat sinks in the lows.

Why scorch, exactly? It has good range and damage, right, but what makes it so special compared to other tech II crystals?

There are only four tech II crystals: Scorch/Conflag for pulse lasers and Aurora/Gleam for beam lasers, with the former of each pair what you tend to build your fit around, and the latter a circumstantial alternative. For pulse lasers, scorch does the fourth-best damage (beaten by IN Gamma, IN Multi, and Conflag) and has the second-best range (beaten by Radio) - while having much more range than comparably damaging crystals and much better damage than comparably ranged crystals.

For L1 missions though, just use Microwave crystals in beam lasers. And split your guns (shift-drag from the main stack in space) into two stacks so that you waste less DPS on killing blows. If you get a mission to kill an industrial or something, a rookie Coercer can easily break 200 DPS with 2-3 heat sinks and Multifrequency crystals.

Thanks for all the tips and replies.
I will consult this thread in the near future when I need to upgrade my Coercer further, and when I get around to the Arbitrator.
