And after that I notice 3 posts down you wanted the skinny on small gang pvp. The drake is a much better choice, hands down. Small gangs tend to want to be mobile gangs, with 1 or 2 nano's in the lows a drake can pass as a mobile ship. A raven never will, unless you're in a decent sized fleet stay away from battleships.

Its been noted the heavy vs hams debate. If you have a scram / web and mwd and a few nanos with some HAMS you may be able to melt some targets, but my personal opinion is a drake wont manage to catch much. It's better to have the range while other ships do the tackling, espeially if things go belly up, you'll want to be as far away from the storm to give you time to align and escape.

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.

Eh Im "more" concerned with Solo PVP. but from everything i've seen it seems that the Raven isn't that good at Solo PVP. MY turret skills are AWFUl so...im trying to go with a Missile ship that doesn't take HAM or Torps.

You run pretty close to me when I use a Drake except I go HAM's. Many people don't realize that buffer tank will outlive recharge tank and EM HAM's will beat Heavies in a hallway fight although I do admit those precision missiles do hurt sometimes.

Actually on second thought that fit is not my standard, I don't usually use t2 extenders, F-S9's usually and I usually spare one extender rig to fill the EM hole a little. I must have borrowed that drake from someone. Lol

I would love HAMS but i think a combination of my assault skills sucking and the fact that most of the ships I fought could just outrange HAMS in a matter of seconds kept me from really ever fielding them.

This is what I usually equip minus the NOS because I simply can't squeeze it in. Being a high seccer I've never really worried about little fast ships, the flavor of ship is usually Drake because they're cheap and they have that tank.

Edit: Helps to actually put a link in.

Do you smell what the Lock's cooking?

The drake really isnt a great solo boat because of its speed, but if you're selective about your targets and smart how you play you can make it work. For solo having distance isnt good because if you're not in point range your target can escape. So if you plan on trying to be in point range you may as well go HAM. Big smile

Yeah, if you're going to solo that's what I'd do.
