Hello there,
I am trying to train for an Orca mining support ship, and this is the skill map that I have come up with from what I have found around the web. Can anyone give me any good advice on this?

Looks fine.

Have you used EveMon?

Thank you and yes, EveMon is what I used to figure out the remaps.

Do you want to do anything else with that character after finishing the Orca training? If so, it might not be wise to waste all three remaps for such a short plan.

My max skill Orca pilot has been 27i 19p 19m 17w 17c for over 3 years now, since his DoB. The mapping has served him well.

Well, I might go more into refining/mining skills after orca, but for now my main goal is Orca. Should I add refining skills to fill out the plan for a year then play with remaps?

IMHO in order to be a well rounded industrial support toon you should have perfect refine skills. I believe that those skills are all Intel/Mem and looks like they will fit nicely into your plan. But yes make sure you add them

I'd move your Int/Mem map to the end in case you want to work refining. Or, if you have another toon with refining skills (like a hulk pilot for crystals), maybe work towards a Rorq and/or Freighter/JF.

i really agree you shouldn't blow all your remaps for such a short training schedule. my orca pilot wants to train these skills as well - mining drone V/drone interfacing V, cybernetics V (the mining director hardwiring is NICE), i REALLY wish she had her refining skills as one of my hulks is the "leet sauce refiner" and it can be bothersome to swap over the inventory.

i give my orca pilot in most (hisec) situations the harvestor efficiency ganglink, tractor beam and salvager for high slots - so you may want to consider that, the other two mining links aren't that useful for me...

i eventually trained the orca for covetor/hulk and really enjooy my 9 strip miners being on the grid, jetcan and use the ganglink on pick up runs while tractoring/salvaging.

i eventually wanted my orca to grind standing.

TLDR: you never know what else you may want your orca to do! bad idea to lock up all your remaps so quicklyBig smile

EDIT: i do vaguely remember certain leadership/mining foreman/director? skills being in a separate remap that i did remap for but that was my only remap and i have since just made all my characters "about the same" on all attributes and don't even worry/think about remaps at all~ it's not the most efficient but i have no regrets or concerns about whether im wasting time in the wrong "family of skills"
