DHD is right, the lesson learned isn't "ban people who call a dev a mean name", the lesson is "ban idiot posters like Jade Constantine for making libelous accusations at CCP devs", or, truncated, "ban people who post like jade constantine"

Yup. Ban Jade Constantine and other similar torn-foreskins and let everyone else keep making terrible posts on terrible forums about a terrible game.

These are good rules. To quarrel with them is to expose yourself as pretty much all those names that you are calling the devs. If there's any bright sign about Eve lately it's that the devs are trying to keep the forums from being laughable.

Because honestly, what's EVE: Online if not a pile of idiots engaged in circlejerking about the latest conspiracy?

It's nothing, I tell you. Nothing.

If you're a CCP Dev/GM and you act like an idiot, I'm still going to call you an idiot. There are a huge number of morons that regurgitate the first stupid thing they can cling to in order to insult CCP, but keep in mind that sometimes a person calling you a dickface is due to the fact that you may in fact be acting like a dickface.

Hope this helps.

The problem is you want to buddy and pal around and be sociable when we agree with you,

but then when we disagree with you, you want us to treat you projesionally and respectfully.

And then there's the fact that you ( ccp ) aren't always professional and respectful when you issue out the warnings.

If you want it both ways, it's going to create the environment that you have now.

I'm not advocating either way being better. In fact I like the snarky comments from the devs, even when they're directed at me. However, being snarky and cute and quippy with your customers is one thing, but when your customer gets pissed about it, what did you really expect?

In any case, you'll clean up the forums with your new rules. But I think you'll lose something good in the process.

So let me get this straight.

When I state that Soundwave was a goon (did the goon presentation at Fanfest in 2007), is going to a goon organized Las Vegas convention, and has repeatedly introduced changes bent on wiping out high sec, it is wrong to call him a null sec zealot?

Why is it two of the largest alliances in the game are also the worst behaved?

Your monthly subscription does not give you the right to call someone you disagree with a 'dickface' on the forums - you don't get this?

I think it's a dumb suggestion considering all the crap that's been added to near-exclusively highsec in recent years while the last 0.0 update (Dominion) was in 2010. What has 0.0 received since then except for Time Dilation? But there's a difference between accusing a dev of bias and accusing a dev of being in a specific individual's or group's pocket.

You actually kind of look the part.

Go live among those majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Gain acceptance. Study them.

Let's put this another way: Am I, and every other sane person who plays this game, to assume that the lead dev left his allegiances to goons and null sec at the door when he took the job at CCP?

Belief in that premise goes way, way beyond naivety.
Given that goons and their null sec allies use every single meta-game tool to the fullest extent they can, am I to believe they would not exercise the most powerful tool in the toolbox to shape the game to their vision of what Eve should be?

While some features have been added that have been utilized more in highsec, I'm having issues recalling a large number of things that were exclusive to highsec. Wardec mechanics changes being an obvious candidate, but I can't recall much else.
