Alts turn into indispensable mains over time...

I'm too lazy to fly too ships when i do exploration. I use the Caracal Navy for most of the things this days (and I'll probably switch to a Gilla)
Last time i took the Buzzard/Drake combo out of the hangar? Weeks ago.

Training two characters? Now way :)

I don't need alts to do nothing.

With so many alts and bots, kind of makes you wonder how many people actually play this game.

'Alts' and 'mains' are so 1999.

These days you have a number of accts (I'm down to seven now) that each specialize in a different area of expertise.

For instance, you might have a cyno/stealth character, a 0.0 builder, a missioner and a PVP combat pilot on different accts all training completely different stuff from each other. This is efficient as ISK for PLEXing accts is practically showered on you for doing next to nothing where as training a multi-disciplined character is going to take years.

So, no mains anymore. Just specialists.

8 Accounts here. Lots of cyno alts and things of that nature, which really require seperate accounts :(

You know, there are these things in MMOs called 'other people'.

You might want to look at finding some of those and teaming up with them.

Yeah, that was the other reason I got rid of the other accounts, my alts were all assholes.

Yea, well consider this: you have multiple accounts AND you team up with other people.

There..... Got you!

They tend to be unreliable, thieves, or worse, you could owe them favors. Other people are fun to talk to on TS, fun to fly with, fun to gank with, but no one else is going to help me move my crap at 3am.

Multiple accounts here as well. But I rarely keep them all active at the same time. Sometimes, because of how the game is design, you need/want more than one account:

1) Mission Runner / Loot & Salvage Alt
2) Miner / Hauling Alt
3) Capital Pilot / Cyno Alt #1 / Cyno Alt #2 ..... / Cyno Alt #n
4) Trading alt with Gallente Standings (for dodixie) / Trading alt with Caldari standings (for Jita)
5) Industry Main / Research/Manufacturing Alt #1 / Research/Manufacturing Alt #2 / Research/Manufacturing Alt #n
6) Generic 0.0 Toon / Scout Alt
7) Goon Member / B.O.B. Spy <-- This combination seems to pay off the most

I don't even think they're that fun to talk to. They start talking about meaningless things in their lives like the fictional spouses that are divorcing them because they neglect them or the fictional jobs they are losing because their work ethic sucks.

You make a valid point, good Sir or Madam.

Fictional spouses are great though since they can't take your stuff when you divorce them.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

They can't give you the special treatment while you're killing a titan either. Sad

I hate the whole idea of alts, I think everyone should just be limited to one character.

Of course that would never happen, CCP would lose a lot of money..but for one it just doesnt make sence from a lore prespective....no capsuleer is seriously going to sit in a station for 90% of thier life and then haul stuff for free for someone else out of nowhere.

My alt is very much indebted to my main. I saved her from a secret blood raider capsuleer training facility during a mission. In exchange for helping me wherever possible, I provide her with the ISK needed to fund her operations. It's a fairly good deal in all honesty.

Uhm, no... If I'm jumping to a Cyno and not part of a fleet jump to a target. It will be my Cyno. Not yours or anyone elses thanks.

@OP

I have four accts, all with their own personalities and purposes. I however like redundancy and uniformity, and I believe in doing a few things really really well. So many activities in this game have profitability that scales very well. And even today, PLEXES are cheap.
