After rebooting my new build PC last night (Installed Windows 7 SP1) EVE has decided to stop working :(

No sooner as I click "Launch" and the screen blackens to start the game that windows throws up a crash dialog "CCP EXE Has stopped working"

Tried the normal trouble-shooting steps:

  1. Rebooted the PC (Sometimes it helps :P)
  2. Checked for updated drivers for all my hardware
  3. Ran EVE in safemode
  4. Tried cleaning out my ingame Cache/Settings
  5. Cleaned out Windows Temp folders
  6. Deleted/Reinstalled EVE itself

But nothing seemed ot have helped. I've created a logserver report, but nothing obvious jumps out as being wrong.. Doesnt seem to be a Crashdump either that I can find :(

Its a custom built machine, (Intel i5 3570k with a AMD 7850 using the latest stable drivers)

It's worked fine for weeks and the only recent change was a few Windows updates (including service pack 1) and Im plumb out of ideas of what might be at fault.

Anyone else been having similar troubles?

The only trace of the error I can find is in the windows Event Viewer:

OK used my lunch break for a quick Google Foo and there are a lot of people reporting issues atiu9pag.dll in relation to Overlays. Are you by any chance using MSI afterburner?

Wow, Thanks for using your lunch-break to help me out.. Personally nothing short of the four horsemen would make me miss my lunch..

But by gum good sir I do belive you've solved it :) Killed and uninstalled Afterburner and EVE started up first time :)

Its a bit of a bugger to lose the overlay but better that than the game not running at all.

Tell your boss that you have my permission to take an extra long lunch, You've earned it.
