I'm not posting this thread for pity. I'm posting it because the guy who pulled it off did it amazingly quick.

CSB V____V

So today me and my corporation were mining some Omber out at Abudba or whatever, and we were storing out stuff inside a jetisson canister.

While my friend who took the cargo to and from the dock was making some coffee, I and the Corporation leader had gotten the canister 9000 units full. While my coffee break friend wasn't doing anything, I told him in the chat to take out the ore. So he did, but he could on'y carry 5600 units. Somehow, the rest dissapeared.

A few seconds later, I notice that there's a red square, and I realize that that person was responsible for the missing ore, which I didn't really mind, but I asked my friend if I was allowed to whoop him with my guns.

My friend was sure I was allowed to without penalty so we both went to strike him. When I saw the enemy's shields on the hud, I knew I was doing large amounts of damage with my noob gatling guns, (My friend was doing more than me).

For some reason the shield of the ship healed all the way up in a split second, then the opponent shot us with a rainbow looking zapping thing I couldn't make out. I thought it was badass. So I warped away since my friend gave in and knew he wouldn't make it. We were sure it was a Vega(badger) version ship.

But for some reason the guy wouldn't back off of us for 2 hours. It was rediculous. We both got destroyed by him, and I'm sure that somehow he hadn't hit him at all, it had to have been the security NPCS that blew him to parts in a split second.

It wasn't the best of times, but it was different. It's my 3rd day of playing. And we lost some good isk with that being said.

Oh well, we'll work through.

We are still tryingto assemble our corporation, there's only 6 of us, and we need some good reliable people.

That's quite a welcome to Eve, hang in there and fight for what's yours.
A word of advice - never AFK anything, not even for a quick anything, rather dock-up and then go do what you need to do, even if it's for 2 minutes.
At least you're not raging about it, well done on that. It's not often someone posts on these forums about being ganked and then not rage about it.

No tears are best tears.

That wasn't a gank. That was your entire corp being wiped out by a single frigate.

And what is "Gamblinig?"

You lost your cherry.

Nice work mate and remember that its better that you do it now and learn from it than do it in a billion isk ship later on.

try to remember what happened so that if it ever happens again you dont take the bait

Its not a bannable offence because he was not in a start up system

At first I wanted to ask "Are you for real?", but then I saw your age. Welcome to EVE! Cool

Yes, it was not a gank. He just stole something from you, which allows you to shoot at him. But that's exactly what he wants, because then he can shoot back and probably kill your ship(s). It's a lame way of getting easy kills.

In Eve baiting/scaming/can flipping noobs is considered as "player content", and for that kind of player Eve content content is OP,
nothing uncommon and encouraged behaviour in Eve. KIll ships is good for economy and for Eve (er...)

@OP

-GTFO if something else than another mining barge gets in to the belt you are

-use standings to set negative that guy and his whole corporation/alliance (easier to spot if those are in the system)

-try to join mining ops with support (orca+instant lockers/gank or logi)

-NEVER jet can if your hauler is not around, even thou he is around don't jet can with neutrals around you, throw that stuff at the station and get back

-ignore baiting nerds/tank your ships

Welcome to Eve

Only if they stayed in one of the rookie systems

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

he probably had a Shield Booster fitted

possibly an Energy Neutralizer (neut) or energy Vampire/Nosferatu (nos)? Badger Mk II has two high slots but only one turret hardpoint so that would make sense.

SKYIINET Caliborus wrote:

you omit that he reshipped into a Merlin after destroying your friend's Stabber

The sequence of events was as follows (source):

05:52 Badger Mk II kills your friend's Stabber
06:00 Merlin kills your Catalyst
06:42 Merlin kills your friend's Stabber again
06:45 Merlin kills other friend's Osprey

at 06:00 you still had aggression from shooting him (15 minute timer) and you should have received a warning saying that he is allowed to shoot you when undocking.

for the 06:42/06:45 something different must have happened - maybe he did canflip again? or did you have several skirmishes between 06:00 and 06:42 extending the aggression timers?

SKYIINET Caliborus wrote:

the four kills that are posted on eve-kill show no CONCORD involvement, if you or your friend got blown up by CONCORD (maybe you wanted to fight back after the 15 min aggression timer was expired) then the killmails were not posted.

Now, let's see what you can do to prepare for the future:

First there is some fairly technical/tedious reading you absolutely have to do:

Try to understand these articles. You probably won't wrap your head around everything on the first pass-through but that's ok - most important is that you know which mechanics exist, knowing exactly how they work is the second step.

Also have a look at

Next, you always should fit some sort of tank on your ships.
All of your ships except for the Osprey were completely untanked and the Osprey's shield booster was undersized (made for frigates, not cruisers).
Fitting theory is a pretty big topic of its own and there is an entire subforum devoted to it (this site lists a lot of guides and you should probably read some of them).

However the three basic rules for good fittings are
(a) no empty slots - almost anything you can put in the slot will be better than leaving it empty
(b) if you undock to fight, don't have modules fitted that are not useful for fighting (e.g. Survey Scanner or mining lasers)
(c) use modules of the appropriate size - if you can't fit them it's a strong sign that you have to train some support skills (e.g. Engineering, Electronics, Weapon Upgrades, ...) before using that ship.
Frigate/Destroyer - small modules
Cruiser/Battlecruiser - medium modules
Battleship - large modules
Don't fit a small shield booster on a Cruiser or medium guns on a battleship.

You have a lot to learn and some of that will inevitably be through reading OOG sites as the in-game tutorial system does a bad job at explaining important game mechanics.

It might be worth putting your own corp on ice for a bit and joining EVE University as they specialize in teaching these things to new players It's great to have some experienced players who explain to you the basic concepts and that can answer your questions directly - instead of learning solely by trial & error or by reading OOG websites.

This guy is right. Outside of rookie systems it's elite pvp, and so, encouraged behaviour by CCP.

You are a cool newbro, you melt my bittervet heart and I want to adopt you.

:shobon:

Having newbie mining ops ruined is a proud tradition in this game. I only hope that you learn that ships are and should be expendable, and easily replaced. May you go on to have much fun in this game.

Also don't sink too many skillpoints into mining, it's crap.

It's a helpless feeling, watching some guy come into your belt! But my friend... he held it together.

"He's flashing red... I'm sure we're allowed to strike him without penalty"

My hands were shaking, I didn't think I was going to make it! But there we were, plinking away at his shields...

It was so real, I was there. I'm telling you, I was there!

Also confirming those fits are amazing.

If you're interested in the Badger fit: http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=13531994

The same guy lost a badger not long ago. Carrying an energy neutralizer (neut) in a high slot and a shield booster (SB), so probably the same fit that he used against you. It's completely aimed for combat. Some call it a battle-badger.
