The Khanid...

After graduating from the Royal Amarr Institute, I began doing charity work for the Joint Harvesting and Inherent Implants. Tending to enhancing slaves and educating Amarrian children. I then became a diplomat for the Caldari Navy and have been at war with the Gallente and Minmatar, keeping them off our allies soil. But I have never been to my homeland. They tell me I am a Khanid of birthright, and I do not know anything of them. Their ships are unique and fascinate me. Each vessel of theirs I command is a power that feels...right.

I wish to know of the Khanid. I know about the disputes them and the Empire had ages ago, but I want to know about their culture. Do they use slaves? Are they a meritocratic society like the Caldari? There is so little that I know of my ancestry.

You could start by reading the Public Galnet Article on the Khanid Kingdom.

An analysis of the Kingom's history of and policies on slavery can also be found there.

Regarding their more recent history, perhaps the most significant event of recent times has been the admission of King Khanid II into the Privy Council of Jamyl I following the diplomatic efforts of Catiz Tash-Murkon.

Well surmised Captain Pitoojee.

I will howevver, give you a brief overview - this does incredible injustive to the story but I have not the time here to tell it in detail.

The history of our Kingdom is long and gloried, we won our freedom when the Heir to the Throne was denied his right, proclaiming the falacy of this he left the Empire for the fools they are and proclaimed the Kingdom a seperate entity, the Empire's new leader, disgusted by our indignant move proceeded to wage a terrible war against us via a pawn, Dakos Khanid, the King's pathetic brother.

This war saw the first test of our nation, we triumphed against all odds and staked our permanent claim on the space we now hold proudly and while the traitor Dakos was defeated, his sympathisers have plauged us ever since, each time being squashed and reinforcing our right to rule.

Today, as Captain Pitoojee said, the King has been recognised as a part of the Privy Council, the Empire, finally realising in their infinite wisdom, that we are a powerful and noble Kingdom, granted us access to our former brothers and sisters again, bringing once former enemies closer to a complete reconciliation.
Mistake this not as appeasement though, we have always controlled our own fate, we are a proud and strong people of warriors and people of great spirit, take heart in your heritage and let it give you strength as it has our for fathers for generations.

As for our culture, as I just said we are strong and proud peoples with many more freedoms than our Imperial cousins, those who hold the wealth and power can own slaves if they choose, although the power remains with the Holders, whom in turn are ruled by the respective members of the Royal Family in most cases.

We also hold claim to the fiercest and most respected soldiers in the Cluster, the Khanid Cyberknights, are noble orders of hugely cybernetically modified Soldiers whom, in their respective fields, are some of the most deadly and powerfull troops known.

I hope this helps you understand us better Brother, if you wish to learn more other than by reading through the volumes of history we have, mail me and I shall do what I can to help.

The Khanid stand in Faith as the crowning glory of Reclaiming. Their freedom does not reject the crucible of hatred that has guided Amarr since the dawn of civilization's rebirth, but affirms that the greatest accomplishments follow from the greatest trials. The purpose of our empire's ostensible "tyranny" is not merely to subjugate the weak, but to forge the strong into something even stronger.

It is therefore in the Khanid that Amarr's status as the true meritocracy of New Eden shines most brightly.

The Kingdom has always represented some of the true heights attainable by properly motivated True Amarr and ethnic Khanid. The will and the spear, tempered, honed, and aimed together.

Moonwinder,

My house has been holders on Khanid Prime for hundreds of years, and made that crucial and correct decision to side with Khanid II over the fool Heideraan long ago. I served with distinction in the Royal Khanid Navy for five decades as well, before finding my calling.

In any case consider myself a resource should you desire a true education in such matters.

The Khanid come from a proud tradition of noble knights and warriors. Our heritage can be traced back to green Athra, when Khanid soldiers crossed the vast plains at the vanguard of glorious armies of conquest.

We are a fiercely independent people. The Khanid Kingdom hosts the holy Order of St. Tetrimon, which is tasked with purging the lies and amendments of the Theology Council from the works of scripture.

We are a people of emerging economic might, due to our trade and engagement with the Caldari State. Our special relationship with our Caldari brothers has caused some liberalisation to our society. However, on many issues, Khanid are staunchly conservative.

I wish you well, my brother, at coming to terms with who you are. Remember to always be proud of your people and honourable in your conduct. Being Khanid means being righteous. We are meant to be an example to others.

I expect my compatriots will give you the usual noble and romantic lines, but we're not that different from the Amarr Empire, or anyone anywhere else.

I got up at a ridiculously early time this 'morning,' consumed about a pot of coffee before noon, spent an inordinate amount of time in a meeting where little of worth was said, and am currently trying to work with customs to get a shipment of materials from Kaalakiota to one of my family’s regional distributers. I’ll probably fly over to the customs office and treat one of the chiefs to an expensive night of drinking and merriment, after which the problem will work itself out.

My superior (my mother) has given me a long list of things she wants done yesterday. My cousin is the head of a planetary complex that’s lagging behind in production because pirate activities have increased in the area and it’s harder to get supplies shipped there in a timely manner, so I’ve been given a (too small) budget and told to ‘fix it.’

That probably sounds very familiar to you. It probably sounds familiar to anyone who’s done middle-level business work. 90% of what I do is no different than what an Amarr in my position would do.

I am a Cyberknight and am proud to be part of that illustrious group, but you have to understand that that was planned out for me before I popped into the world. I am following a path laid out by my family. Unlike some, I don’t have an arranged marriage, but my future partner will be someone Lord Hanaya (great uncle) selects.

I find Khanid culture far more relaxed than others, though foreigners have told me we’re very cool and aloof.

Render unto Khanid the things which are Khanid's; and unto God the things that are God's.

Thank you all very much for your insight. My Zealot ancestry has made me forego greater things, but sadly leaving behind my Kingdom to pursue them. At least I know, the things I do will represent the glory of our Kingdom.
