Since the dawn of the written language, and quite possibly before, man has kept records of their victories and losses... whether that be in games or in war.

So far this fact hasn't changed the frequency or consequences of either one.

A better idea would be a CCP developed "official" killboard, seeing as how Eve Kill is pretty much broken beyond repair and the Battleclinic UI is unreadable.

I agree on battleclinic, but the eve-kill thing issue is only temporary, things are broken there because they are working on implementing some features, including the customizable api keys and it should be fixed pretty soon.

They broke what was working well.

I don't know the background to why they changed their stance on sharing kill info, but it pretty much defeats the purpose of having a killboard in the first place if its not shared. Requiring everyone to register an API is great and all, but it also serves as a great way to harvest e-mail addresses (not that they would necessarily do that).

Put simply, it looks like they rushed out their "upgrades", and completely broke everything that was running well. I used to use eve-kill.net as my primary KB to check on people, but no longer. (and battleclinic sucks on their KB - their UI is terribad)

Same here. I've completely stopped using eve-kill for my PvP characters. I've taken to setting up a personal KB on my own webserver to keep my own "official" record from now on. I won't be going back to Eve-Kill and I could care less if BC is in sync with my killmails because it's interface is just horrid.

So far, this seems to be the best solution: privately hosted KBs. Hence, my original comment of a killboard made by CCP to use as an "official" global Eve KB. They could even integrate it with Eve Gate :D

Removing the metric used to calculate the winners and losers of fights isn't going to prompt those people to fight anymore than they do now, you'll just get more arguing over who won what fight because there's no factual record of it.

Ahar! You mean you can't tell who won or lost unless you see it on a killboard? Too funny. You just don't want to admit you like to gloat over your ep33n. What better way to show off how big yours is than a nifty http://www.Look_At_My_Dong.com? Anyone using killboard information to form tactical or strategic method needn't get off the short bus.

You seem mad, is it the fact that you cant form an opinion without insulting someone that makes you mad, or that you've never been in a really close fight that makes you mad?

I challenge you to find one place I've ever bragged about my KDR. Ever, at all, or, to even find an accurate representation of my KDR, since its different on every major site after all this time.

Sometimes you simply don't get a chance to stick around and count the wrecks, I understand that can be hard for you, but when primaries are being called 2 at a time for both sides, and things are exploding all over, you may find that you've won the field but lost the battle.

Being able to review what happened in the fight and see where things when good and bad are important to planners and theory crafters that build their next engagement around things that took place during the last.

The killboard can help sort that out.

Ours even generates a nifty graph over the course of a battle to show enemy ships killed vs friendly ships killed, and breaks them apart into corps/alliance/type.

These forums are their kill board. Extra points the longer a thread of whining gets. I would say CCP has quite a good efficiency rating.
