Returned to the game as as trader and need help tracking profit

Hi,

I've recently returned to the game and am trying out and older character that I trained a while back for trading.

I'm actually doing okay.... at least enough to fund my small frigate PvP habit.

My problem is that I'm having difficulty tracking my profitable items. I'll set a buy order and it'll buy that it was told to and then I'll set a sell order and it will sell it all (working in small amounts currently). However, if it buys and sells quickly I can not recall what items it worked with.

I'm doing this from work, so I am unable to write things down.

Is there a program that can help me track this?

Ideally I am looking for something that shows the name of the item, profit, % profit, numbers sold etc etc

Your question isn't about tracking profit, but it's about tracking items.

What you can do is add them to your market quickbar in a folder named "trade this"
this way you know that those items are your buy/sell items.
Add to that the fact you can highlight your orders now, it makes most 3rd party tools irrelevant(those that addressed this exact issue).

hope it helps.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I discovered the highlight trades yesterday.......... what a difference that makes.

The issue I have is that I am trading a ton of different items, which I know dilutes my knowledge, but I want to get a feel for the market.

By the time I can buy something, put it on the market and get home, kiss the wife, play with the little's ones trains, feed the dog, bathe the baby, kiss the wife again (lucky woman!!) and then sit down to EvE, its late, I'm tired, I have perhaps just 15 minutes and I have to plan for that imaginary confrontation with my evil boss the next day........ (losing myself now :))......... the trade has gone. Profit sits nicely in my account, but I missed it all.

I can not add all of the items to the trade this folder simply because there are tons of them and I am not yet overly familiar with them.

I like your suggestion, but I think it is one step ahead of where I am now. Once I KNOW what items work for me, then I can add them.........

I have a "Good items" folder - these are the items i know for sure that works(for now)
I have a "test" folder for items i want to get feel for, i normaly trade them in small numbers
i also have a "cool down" folder - this folder is normaly for good items gone bad due to various reasons and waiting for the market to recoup.

overall what i do is i just go over my good list once a day-ish depends on how much time i have. it takes me around 5 minutes to go over this list and update/set new buy orders.

i then go to my test folder, another 5 minutes. and that's my usual trading day.

once every few days i set the sell orders and around once a week i go through my "cool down" folder.

There's no magical way of doing it i'm afraid, People used eve-mentat, but that program is almost but obsolete now with the highlights.

And i'm trading in around 200 items in total. ish. :)

Eve mentat if anything. income analyzer is also nice for actual profit calculations.
but let's ignore all the OP and link something irrelevant.

There's a ton of great tools out there, problem is traders hate sharing for obvious reasons. The API let's you track the information you're requesting, you'll just have to put the leg work in to find it.

I wish I had some better references for you, but check out EVEDev -- that'll at least get you in the right direction.

I just broke my brand new iPad :(

I may have misread your question do to all the bullshit in your post, but if you didnt know, in your wallet window there is a transations tab that shows a history of every item you have purchased and sold highlighted in green and red.

The best website for this is eveprofit.com as far as I'm concerned. If you want a better alternative, download EveNexus which gives you graphs and easy ways to sort your profitable items.

I have to mention the software I have refurbished for Inferno, EvE Income Analyzer. It's easy to use and gives out easy to "get" graphs about your best items sold, how long they take to sell, what station was the best and so on.
