Buy order jump range, I don't get it

I put in a buy order for 100 items at station A (for the sake of example) and I specified a range of 10 jumps. Now, I don't have either marketing or procurement, but was allowed to specify a range nevertheless. Now, someone sold me one of the items I was willing to buy, but I cannot for the life of me figure out where the item was sold to me, so that I can go to that station and pick it up.

My understanding of range was that the item should appear (i.e., be sold to me) either at the station where the order was placed or at some stations up to 10 jumps away. In any event I thought I would be able to find where the item was using the Assets window. But, I checked the assets at station A, where the buy order was placed and I checked all other stations having assets and I cannot find the item anywhere. How do I find where an item that was sold to me is located?

Item will be at station where it was sold to you, within 10 jumps from where your order is. This distance is direct distance, so if you have autopilot set to avoid lowsec then the actual autopilot route there could be longer than 10 jumps.

It will be visible in Assets, but you can also check Wallet -> Transactions to see the exact station where it was sold to you.

About skills: When you place buy order at the station where you currently are, you can use any range without skills. Skills are only needed when placing buy orders remotely at other stations (without actually travelling there.)

The assets icon on the Neocom (the one that looks like a safe) has a 5 minutes delay. Is it perchance you just checked immediately after the transaction?
