The world needs to look up, Instead we have our heads up our asses starting petty wars.

We need NASA back to full power, we should halve our military forces... Let the third world countries duke it out while NASA and the ESA and Russia work on colonizing space. Guess involve China too, they can bring the lead paint for radiation shielding.

Now amount of the US and the West in general can do enough world police to stop pointless tribal bickering in the third world, only step in if they plan to escalate to nuclear weapons, otherwise fsck it let em duke it out while we claim humanity's right to space travel.

EVE is like swimming on a beach in shark infested waters,  There is however a catch...  The EVE Beach you also have to wonder which fellow swimmer will try and eat you before the sharks.

This. It is not gonna happen.

We've had flight little over a century. We were on the moon 50 years after Kittyhawk. A private corporation designed, built, and flew into earth orbit in 4 years. A private corporation just docked a module with the ISS in less than 10.

Yes, it is going to happen.

When having to decide who is more likely to be correct, I think I'll go with NdG and the geniuses hired by SpaceX, Armadillo, Planetary Resources, etc.. over you two.

...None of whom have said that this will be achieved in 10, 11 years.

Also, it's not a matter of trust, it's a matter of knowing what's involved. Clearly, the people who think this can be done in a decade don't know this. Practically, what they're thinking is "all the technology we need has already been invented, we just need to put it together", which is NOT TRUE. Please reread my previous post in this thread. (But if you want to bet a few million on those people succeeding, that'd be awesome, too.)

I think it's sad that Dr. 't Hooft immediately endorsed the project, which goes to show once more that even very smart people can think irrational things.
