figured they'd give a percentage to protect their investments by hiring corps for protection. or are they all that greedy that they'd rather eat the loss of a hulk?

How do you protect against alpha? I think high sec ganking is awesome, but you can't really protect from alpha besides fitting a tank (which many are too stupid to do). I think low sec mining with a fleet guarding the operation would be cool as hell and stimulate pvp, but miners are too carebearish to venture there.

With a picture like that, I assume you're trolling. I really hope you're trolling, and not actually that dumb.

You can make a grease monkey and act as a repairer for the endangered hulk.

Im able to use multiple logistic in my multile accounts. as hulk protector, well skiled all to lvl 5, but here is problem, im old player, i wont waste like 5 hour to protect one hulk who mining veldspar who can made 10mil profit per hour... while im able to earn 4x more on lvl 4 mission, to my point, you think miners can aford protectors? and even if they can, they cant survive multiple alpha even they got logistic support.

How exactly do you expect to protect someone from ships that pop their targets pretty much at the same time they lock?

From my experience of running small mercenary corporations, I can tell you that the majority of potential carebear clients back out of sealing contracts because after assuming that the services would be provided free/very cheaply, they balk at having to pay a few hundred million for a week of work.

To answer the second part of the question: your Hulk will have a lot of EHP with a buffer fit, and a max-skilled Tengu providing bonuses. On top of that, even a single Basilisk will usually be enough to deter gankers from going after you. Sure, they can still probably gank you, but it's not a guaranteed thing, and they can just as easily go kill someone a belt away who is unprotected.

Carebears simply refuse to give up a part of their income to ensure safety. I've offered RR services to them, but each time the response was "sry cant cuz then we maek less from mins :\". I've never had carebears accept protection offers, ever. Meanwhile, selling RR services to pvp corporations has been quite profitable.

Carebears simply expect maximum yield at all times, and when they can't get it, they whine for game changes. It's nothing new.

Edit: carebears have hired me for mercenary work that involved wars. The first paragraph still applies to most negotiations, however.

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

... expecially when those "few hundred millions for a week of work" are more than they earn even with the increased prices.

Too bad for you, sometimes I fleet up with protection mercs who get miners jobs all the time.
They don't ask for hundred millions a week though.

Let's see...Any single person I play with has the capacity to run some incursions, or go into a wormhole, and make at the minimum 100 million ISK per hour.

Alternatively, for a standard high-sec war contract, the fee is usually 400-600 million weekly. In my experience, asking for more simply removes all chance of sealing a contract, unless you're being hired by a strong entity with specific goals. I mean, I've done contracts worth 2-3 billion a week, and I rarely bring more than 4-5 people on a job.

Let's assume four people actively take part in the contract. That's 150 million, at most, per person. Each of these people puts in at least double-digit hours every week chasing/camping/fighting war targets. How much is that per hour now? Now, let's add on the additional risk of losing ships in combat...

So, how much should we charge a carebear outfit per hour to guard a mining op that consists of, say, four Hulks and an Orca? Or are you also saying we should do this for free, because since we're pvpers, staring at the screen and doing nothing productive while guarding some whiny roid-suckers is its own reward?

Edit: keep in mind, we're not 2-month-old players in frigates learning the ropes. We actually ensure success for our employers. Sure, you might hire some local players to sit around in some cruisers, and fail miserably when they are unable to take out even one hostile destroyer before CONCORD does. I am talking about multiple T2 logistics, links, dedicated ECM burst Blackbirds, instant-lock 1400 Tornados, et cetera.

Ya know, I used to take Grandma to the store to watch over her becasue there was this one time a guy ran up to her and he took her purse. It was some youngen kid who probably need the money fer drugs or honkey. Ya know the hardest part about it all was the fact that we had to go to the tag agency to get her drivers licence replaced and low and behold she hadent got it renewed fer a couple of years. So we had to jump through a couple of hoops it get it all fixed. we probably wated in line for hours like we were at disneyland trying to get on a ride. Ya know I took my Grandson David to a theme park out where we live. Boy I tell ya that kid was all over them rides. When I was a kid we had a park near up called cow poke land. You got in fer free if you dressed like you were from the western ages. I would get all dressed up like a cowboy id seen on TV... When I was a kid I used to watch a lot of cowboy movies, still do actually. I like the funny westerns with James Garner the most. Westerns reminds me of this park that was called cow poke land. It was a small park that was near where I lived at the time. We used to get all dressed up on the count that it were free to get in if you did. Anywho, that just goes to show you why I like westerns so much.

Thanks to Hulkageddon and raising mineral prices Hulks print money now thus protection isn't critical.

A couple more weeks of hulkageddon and mining will become most profitable activity in the game.

Granpa Bill! Oh is that you Grandpa? It's been ever so long. The last time I seen you must have been at lovely Grandma's funeral rest in peace. It was such a lovely day I remember. Just the kind of day Grandma May would've loved to go to the old cowboy park. Those damnyankees turned it into a Wal-Mart, but I daresay she done sit in the parking lot anyhow God bless her.
