Because that's what I'm trying to teach them and you seem to be talking me down for it.

Seems now we know why. I was cutting into your niche.

I don't have a niche. If Hulks ceased to exist tomorrow I would not flinch.
My main activity is to trade minerals and isotopes and since I am not a "buy and hold" trader I don't even care if they are cheap or expensive. I'll try buying lower and selling higher.

I am just amused at the effort you put into catechizing people who don't want to listen. By doing so, you keep putting them under the light and therefore they get visibility and visibility is a first step to power.

Maybe i'm metagaming then?

Did you ever consider that?

But sure, keep pointing out what I'm doing in a thread you don't want to see bumped...Roll

Well so far nobody cared to explain the AFKer true mindset.
Now you have that, feel free to use it for metagaming.

As for bumping this thread or one of the 50 related ones, it's a consequence of me wanting to clear all the details.

Since I have done that I am off to bed. I am sure tomorrow I'll find another dozen of similar threads anyway.

I'm sure you're right.

I am positive that nobody in Eve was smart enough to glean the true mindset of the AFK miner. It was completely unilluminated prior to today.

Greetings

The circle of life is alive and well in this thread. I can not believe that in this wonderful sandbox that we all play in, that some of the most argued crap is about who plays in the sand better than the other guy. Wake me when it's over and the ride has come to a complete stop.

OMG You called EvE sand box!!! They gonna eat you alive!!!

Anyways, the point is those filthy miners, then we agree, should flag themselves in the case they have trained light cannon lvl I. Otherwise the risks are too high.

What did you say about CODE?

Do all you people mine in genesis/forge/lonetrek or something? Ganking in my neighborhood is practically a non-issue. i hardly see what all the whining is about. I'm a miner mostly but I am starting to look into ganking just to screw with the locals. I think these threads are mostly BS. If anything the gankers need to step up their game, the element of danger is needed for mining and there isn't any in many regions. This breeds complacency but, where i live complacency really doesn't matter. As for tanking and aligning, good practices, yes but largely unnecessary in many regions.

of course i am hiding behind an alt, i am not about to bring specific attention to my main but to me all this ganking/HAG is very much over-rated.

if you are getting ganked a lot you should move. Roll

But I want to mine in peace in my Home. Why should I have to protect my home when the police exist?

If you're willing to take measures to protect yourself, or even better, shoot back, you're not the drone we're talking about.

When you really think about it, its not the miners who are Risk-Averse.

HiSec Miners are
- Still out there in HiSec flying expensive ships despite the "war"... RISK.

Gankers are
- Loading out cheap combat ships to fight non-combat ships that cannot fight back... NO RISK.
- Attacking under circumstances where allies cannot always help out due to HiSec mechanics... NO RISK.
- Getting paid to make said attacks, which nullifies loss... NO RISK.

It is actually the gankers who are risk-averse.
Bravo to Hulkageddoners on the spin. Well Played

This is why I love EVE. Now lets move on.

A very insightful and correct observation. No truer words were ever spoken.

Don't even need to read the rest of this thread, all the facts are plainly listed in the OP.

Then quote the OP. Everyone else either responds to some post in the vicinity of theirs or quotes the post they're talking about.

Otherwise it's like sitting in a meeting, waiting halfway through and responding to the first thing said in the meeting without any preface.

make concord chance-based, done, suicide ganking has risk

No then it just has a possible bonus

"Bonus" is a relative term here... Why would i fit the cheapest possible fit if now there is a chance it survives? All of a sudden, "risking" more becomes an option.

Considering all those threads kept starting from a false premise (miners are greedy, go all yield no tank), I have to say nobody of the forum poasters had a clue, so yes it had to be said.

The false premise makes people go in great lengths at proposing alternate playstyles and defensive small cargo way less AFK setups therefore they get to the wrong conclusion.

The right premise is that a majority mines for the AFK factor, in full expanded ships with low yield, no drones (micromanaging them would mean less AFK) . The right conclusion is to kill them, only some will forfeit AFK as a main playstyle, the others will switch to something else or even to another game (once they are out of money for their main).

See, three text lines that would make hundred of forum pages immediately redundant and useless.

Why should CCP enable those who do not play the game?

Because you can get a lot of money from people who don't play.

Half-Life 2 is one of the most anticipated and best selling (12 million sold) PC games of all time. Look at the achievements. Only 21.5% of players got Anchor's Aweigh. This is a story-based achievement; if you play the game for 3 hours, you will get it. Yet over 75% of players couldn't put in that 3 hours of work.

You can see this pattern with any game where you can track the activity of players. The *majority* of gamers treat games as a momentary distraction that they're relatively uninvested in.

Render unto Khanid the things which are Khanid's; and unto God the things that are God's.
