Spoiler: You don't have crew, your pod does all the work.

Now hold up, that doesn't hold water. Maybe if we were able to fly specialized Capsuleer ships that might be possible, but we're flying ordinary ships here; ships crewed by non-Capsuler pilots and crew when encountered as NPCs. To think that our pod does everything is a bit... far-fetched.

Capules are Jovian tech. Your argument is invalid.

Read the lore if you care.

The ships produced in the game are built for use with capsules. Your argument is invalid

"Throughout the period where the capsule and the clone had not yet begun their courtship, pods saw some use among those select few able to handle the intense nausea, hallucinations and general mental instability engendered by prolonged occupancy. Stories are told of pod pilot heroes flying on the side of the Caldari during the twilight years of the Gallente-Caldari War, executing maneuvers unthinkable to those encumbered with a full crew complement and the bothersome necessity of using vocal commands and hand-eye coordination to steer their vessels. Such pilots were a rare breed, though; because of the technology’s inherent dangers, capsule-fitted ships were not yet in mass production and existing models therefore had to be retro-fitted at great effort and expense."

Maybe it is like those crabfishermen in Alaska.

Very high risk, very high pay?

Nah. There is no risk - Join a ship crew, you WILL die. 100% certainty. It's just a question of how soon. Crab fishermen have a 98+% chance of making it home, at least - despite all the risks.

Who signs on for suicide jobs? Zealots, and the desperately hopeless. And since it's a crap-shoot which kind of pilot you get, zealots (unless they zealously want to die in a fire) are less likely.

I suppose there might be high pay, but that won't change the nature of the folks earning it. Even if they're remitting their pay to someone not on the ship (sick mother, kid brother, church, etc.), they still signed on for a suicide job, which means they've got no hope left.

I bet morale below-decks is miserable.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

You must really mistreat your ships and crew.

I rarely lose ships, and ones I do lose are ones I know I'm likely to. I make sure my crews are supplied with proper gallentean cuisine, as well as fresh minmatar comfort foods. Mmm-mm, fried shiproaches in Coolant!

Rarely, but lose them you do - Sooner or later. It's just a question of when.

If I were eating fried shiproaches* in coolant, I'd be praying for you to get clumsy. Now, me? Deep-fried battered proto-grubs, along with vat-raised starch tubers. And all the engineering-brewed slash they can drink.

My crews may be surly and ill-trained, but I've never had a mutiny. Or, at least, not a successful one. Pirate

*Shiproaches are properly served macerated and smeared on starch wafers, with Pator-pepper** hot sauce*** to hide the taste.

**Pator VII.

***Distilled rocket fuel will serve as a reasonable substitute.

You're all taking internet spaceships waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously.

"We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming.
