I like what the OP is trying to do.

But for the people saying they would support it by buying plex, could I make a suggestion?

If you're willing to spend money on plex for a donation, how about you donate the money NOW instead of waiting for the chance that CCP does do this. I imagine that there are already organizations set up to take donations of all sorts.

And how the hell do you know it's not already done for some?

I'm pretty aware of those humanitarian organisations, I'm at 15mn center Geneva and actually work with them sometimes, most of the money you send there stays for internal needs (those pay bills/salary too) and most of the OGM's have personnel that doesn't live with good intentions and awesome words, in fact most of them do it because it's financially worthy.

Because they're buying the PLEX with ISK. Some of us have more discretionary space pixels than real money to play with.

Probably nowhere.

I should have created a shallow topic about bunnies nice weather and I'd get more feedback.

Harsh truth is: earthquakes are not rare thing. Every year somewhere something happens. So your post really is not so interesting to people.

back to topic: let me know when to donate PLEX.

See, earthquakes are common indeed .
But so far they are getting about 1 quake of 4.5+ Richter every other day, had multiple "main" 5.8+ earthquakes and now the nasty stuff decided to hit another region as well (very very minor damage there, furtunately). It's still ongoing as I write.

What is imho worth mentioning is not the quake per se, but the consequences. 35,000 factories have been stopped and many got destroyed. This created a massive humanitarian issue, because there's lots of people now in tents, in cars (since 2 weeks) many are going to be unemployed in a country where losing job = lose income for years (very high unoccupation rate).

Since a picture is better than 1000 words, let me show a tiny sample:

Look at this rift. It tells exactly what happened, no words needed.

Castles, churches, monuments, many have been destroyed or are so compromised they will have to be demolished. Vast scale destruction (in some areas it's 100 percent)

One of the thousands factories that got destroyed.
It was not some decrepit old hovel but built with anti-seismic criteria (yeah it helped a lot).

Another factory.
The region is very industry heavy.

Many houses and MANY historical buildings and monuments got destroyed.

Another house, feel free to Google for "terremoto emilia romagna" to find hundreds.

More destruction

And I am here, with tens of billions gathered exactly for these disasters and I can't do anything to help.

CCP please investigate on this event and let us donate!

Another 4.3 Richter earthquake this night (plus other smaller 6). Factories evacuated again and people all back into tents, under hot summer temperature. Every time (basically every other day) this happens, they have to re-check what factories of the 35,000 affected are still safe for the workers to enter (we already had some crash and kill the returned workers Sad).

Since the safety check teams are too few, it means weeks with no work and further loss of customers, who demand strict timing or just go do business with other countries.

This, there was a 6.1 earthquake in peru 4 days ago. Wheres there PLEX drive? They wont get the media coverage like italy will so it'll go mostly unnoticed like many earthquakes around the world.

I think this needed to be a private thing sent to CCP first because making it public just seems like you're begging and plenty of that goes on in GD as it is. Ugh

I don't know how things go in Peru and I am certainly not against sharing a campaign if something disruptive happenedthere. I know that here we have lots of ancient palaces and monuments that have been promoted by UNESCO as humanity heritage and those are extremely fragile and get destroyed by smaller events than in other places in the worlds.

You know you'd might feel the hurt if a quake got to Rome and destroyed 80% of its buildings and monuments.

Not really, im smart enough to value life over buildings and monuments. Also just to reiterate my point;

These buildings were all inhabitated, they were not a museum.

I see no reason why CCP can't always have a PLEX drive going, maybe change the destination every month.

Donor fatigue anyone?

Maybe PLEX for X should start focusing on other issues besides the last cruise liner that plunged into a random star.

Could an order be established like...

- Starving kids (multiple countries)
- Pandemic (200,000 dead)
- Natural disaster (10,000 dead)
- Malaria
- Etc.

And a long way down...

- A few broken antiquities

Once one world problem is solved the next item on the list can be tackled so we don't have to see this kind of thread again.

These Italian earthquakes, while bad are not very big. These rather minor earthquakes will continue for some time yet as the fault system unzips itself untill the preassure stablises. This happens every few decades and the vast bulk of building will suffer only minor damage. Italy is in the G8 and has the funds to deal with this. Plex drive should be reserved for real disasters.

????

You would think that I didn't make a post suggesting that people who would be willing to spend their MONEY on plex, not isk, to donate that money now instead of waiting for the offchance that CCP will do a fundraiser.

Except that's clearly what I did write, you even quoted it.

WTF is wrong with some people.
