Hi

I'm going to do my best to make this sound like a "I don't know what to do " or a "how do I make ISK" thread but, please, bear with me.

I've been playing for about 40 days or so and am enjoying my L2 missions. I've trained drone skills specifically and love my Vexor with T2 Hammerheads. I'm currently training to move up to a Mymidon and then a,.... um, forgot the name, Gallente BS, starts with V.

However, missions do get repetitive. My skill path somewhat dictates I'm just not that well equipped to deal with other roles really. My training to get to a BS is also relatively longterm (in game terms).

My corp is nice, but I won't even kid myself I'm at any level to be useful in an incursion.

So, when I can't face another mission, I'm left a bit lost, not sure what to do. I feel like everytime I go through to 0.4 or lower I get gatecamped. Mining is neither quick nor profitable. I am, right now, essentially stuck in hisec either missioning or.. wondering. I tried ratting but, in highsec, it really isn't worthwhile Vs missions.

So I was just wondering. I know it's tempting for many of you to simply reply "do whatever you want" but what, really, at my level are the options given that changing my skill queue isn't something that appeals to me?

thank for reading.

Find other like minded newbs about your same level and mission with them.

As for the battleship I expect you meant the domi, the three Gallente BSes are
Dominix (the drones one)
Megathron
Hyperion

For incursions though I'd suggest moving out of drone boats as I'd imagine the drones will get shot at a lot cause the NPCs change targets. A well fitted megathron might be able to do fine in an incursion as a sniper. In the mean time though keep missioning to make some money and take the time it takes for you to train up to a BS or BC to learn more about the game and your preferred professions.

You might also be able to get into high sec exploration as the combat sites will be very close to missions but you have to scan out the sites to get there. The pay off however is sometimes deadspace items or T2 salvage. It doesn't take very long to train to use a codebreaker and an analyzer so you could take advantage of Radar and Mag sites too.

The Myrm is perfectly suited to this as it can run a decent tank while also carrying around some of those utility modules while still doing decent dmg cause all of it is in the drones. And since its in drones you can switch out the dmg types depending on which space you live in ^^

I would suggest dabbling in some new things for the fun of it. This is a great player created page called "What to do in EVE Online" that may help you find something you enjoy to do in your off time.

You can also look around and try to find a corporation that is more in line with what you want to do. Having a good set of friends who play with you can make a huge difference.

for your 'off-days' when the idea of running another mission moves your mouse towards the quit button:

Hop into a small atron frigate with a probe launcher and a MWD. Possibly even a cloak if you really want to.

head straight into Low-sec and start making bookmarks - safes, Gate Tacticals, Insta-undocks, Pounce points etc.

You can use the probe launcher to find some cosmic sigs that will allow you to warp to something off the plane of the system when all the celestials are practically on the same one.

Spend your down time doing this and you'll both be creating useful bookmarks for your future PvP and exploration needs and in addition you will probably find yourself getting a bit more aclimated to Lowsec.

Fast and nimble frigates will get you through most camps. In the event you run into the one with the triple Sebo'd recons with instalock artycanes....... its only an atron.

When that happens, buy another atron and try again.

There are many things to practice such as D-scan usage, finding targets, using the system map to find / or avoid hotspots, even the MWD + Cloak trick takes a few tries to get comfortable with.

Even getting used to running gatecamps will pay for itself a million times over. It becomes pretty mundane after a while if you don't load grid to see 100 flashies and a bubble.

Tl;Dr - when you got nothing more pressing to do try to go out and survive a bit. It will come back in spades.

Lots of new Eve players hit a bit of a funk at this point in your career!

The great thing about Eve is that you can do pretty much anything you want. Most skills take minutes to learn to level 1 and then you can have a go with that aspect of the game.

Be happy to deviate from your skill queue for a time to let yourself try something else out!

I'm really enjoying using probes to scan stuff down at the moment!

THIS! Add to it some creativity and out of the box thinking. This is a sandbox. Do what you want.
Lately the PVP aspects have been promoted (by players) to no end. But perhaps you're more like a postcard designer wants to sell his latest creations for ISK? There is room for that, even.

In EVE, with various toons, I have been a diplomat, a trainer, some nasty things, some good guys, a video editor for hire, etc. pp..

Pew pew is nice, but do whatever you feel is kewl... And there are MANY ways to have fun and get rich and be - or feel - succesful in EVE. Your playstyle = correct playstyle.

The hardest challenge is to find your own way. Somewhat like RL. ;)

(let me add I like pew-pew... But that is not all EVE has to offer... Nope...))

Learn Exploration.

Probing and exploring can be fun and provide content for your level and skill range as well in high sec.

Make sure that you are using your Connections Skill to give you a boost into the better missions if you need it - L3 missions can be done in a battlecruiser without needing a battleship and will use all the same skills you've been training for your cruisers. They'll give you a noticeable cash increase from L2's and will be more challenging and interesting. Missions however, shouldn't be your main focus in EVE - you should start looking at developing connections and opportunities with other people and start to look into what the community has to offer.

PVP is the highlight of EVE and if you're going into the PVP experience alone and wonder why you keep getting "gatecamped" you should look into some PVP training. Frigates are the cream of the crop to learn PVP. Put your Vexor away and look into Frigates to start learning how to fight and explore the galaxy with some modicum of safety compared to your cruiser.

That's a good enough question for someone to put the answer in his sig.

Practice on running those gatecamps, set up a frig with salvagers, let the map show you where the most ship kills in the last hour has been in nullsec, and head out.

Mana from heaven,.. ahh sweet nectar of life!!
