SoTF will kick any player who dishonours a 1vs1.

It is our view that players who do this are a discredit to our reputation and we consider our reputation to be an invaluable asset.

I forget who, but someone said that pixels and spaceships come and go but that in the end all you really have is your reputation and I agree with this.

No, there is no difference between e-honour and honour, you either stick by your word or you don't.

If you dishonor a 1v1 it means you suck and have so self confidence when it comes to 1v1ing.

In a game where scams, heists, and backstabbing are an encouraged part of the game, lying doesn't mean you're not honorable IRL, it means you're not e-honorable IG.

It's like Risk or Diplomacy. If you make an alliance and break it, do you lose your friends over it? I hope not. (Especially with Diplomacy, holy Backstabbing, Batman).

Oh i'm fine with all that, I just draw a distinction between a one on one and the rest of it, its more personal. but hey maybe just me ....

Edit, although if some one had been in my corp a year built a friendship and trust then scammed me or stole, then I would lose that "friend" over it.

the end will always justify the means if it achieves your strategic objective and prevents the other player(s) from achieving theirs

So lying is fine, unless it's lying about a 1v1? Roll

How's that different from screwing you over in Risk or Diplomacy?

I can see the logic of that argument but I think it's assuming people are approaching EVE like it's a professional sport.

I think for a lot of players it's much more of a hobby, the social element is much more important and people make less of a divide between playing a role in a game and actually being a ****.

Actually, historically speaking in EVE the ones who cry foul over e-honor are the ones who take it entirely too seriously. I don't care if people believe in it, but I don't want to hear complaining about those who don't, especially when those that don't roll over the person who does because they had some imaginary belief that morality has a place in EVE.

This is why I sometimes question the notion that pvp in this game takes intellectual skill. I can bring more people to a fight in any game I play! Lol

So close...

There's a massive difference between Eve and someone you trust stabbing you in the back and those board games. Length of play, no one is strictly on your side etc. You know its going to happen and you'll do it to them.

In your world there is no trust between anyone, even ppl you may have played with for years, sad.

But like I said that's my opinion.

Building vast space empires, building the infrastructure (both in-game and meta), recruiting well, keeping up to date fleet doctrines, and having the skills to handle diplomacy and coordination between dozens of other entities does require intelligence. "Blobbing" is just the rationality people use to justify their loss because they can't/didn't play the meta game as well as the other group.

If you're honest for the purpose of being honorable, you're dead or irrelevant.

There are plenty of 1v1s to be found in low sec. Most established or up and coming pirate corporations always honor 1v1s, because it ensures they can get fights often. See Tuskers, BRRC, RANSM, etc etc

Just come to Heild...you'll get a 1v1 in minutes.

I was just curious about something. I'm also aware that it's almost impossible to say anything these days without being trolled. So, what's everyone's views on 1v1's and pilots dishonoring them? I know that you can never take anyone at there word really but I myself honor all 1v1's and all ransoms. Here recently over the last few months to a year maybe I have encountered much more pilots dishonoring 1v1's/ransoms than ever before. I guess this isn't really a big deal. Idk. A few hours ago i had someone ask me for a 1v1, so I accepted. We started fighting and his fleet warped in, killed me. **** happens though. The point is, if there even is one, afterwards they told me that this was a legit EVE tactic. To ask for 1v1's then when ppl come to fight they jump them. that that's how they get most of there kills. They'll ask for 1v1's and be in a frig and other guy be in something expensive. then they jump the expecting pilot and kill him. I've talked to people about 1v1's before and some people think that this is legit, and that there way of fighting is a honorable and skilled way to pvp. That it's just another way to pvp.

Well, I love this game because anything goes. You can join an alliance, work your way to the top, steal everything, and watch it crumble. Or build allies, strengthen your pvp force, and conquer areas of space. Or you can also trade scam people, pirate, and suicide people. So I don't know. I just hope that this is not going to become some new way of PVP. I've just heard of so many corps doing this as a form of PVP.

Any thoughts you all might have would be nice to hear.... Bring on the trolls..

What I never get is why after people do something really dumb do they come to the forums and TELL EVERYONE. Lol

OMG You are sooo pixel macho...
