Why don't we split up EVE servers into shards?

The Goon shard already exists, it's called Tranquility

npc alts have no opinions worth consideration

Greetings capsuleer,

No, it would not. If, by some miracle, we should find a way to open the EVE Gate and transfer ourselves to another universe it would fragment the already modest population of New Eden. And, capsuleers that cannot cut it in New Eden should not seek to flee it through this mechanism as it undermines the entirety of New Eden and what it stands for. Why should silliness be rewarded?

The ones that claim that Eve is a single universe have missed the point that once upon a time Eve had 10,000 people online at the same time and the players enjoyed the game. Remind me again how that is different from 4 shards of 10,000 players each?

Because it reduces the meaning of those players choices.

In EVE, if I make a choice, it changes the whole server, and is part of history because there is only 1 world.

In a multi server world a choice means nothing because people can just go to the other server and ignore it. It is no longer a permanent part of the games history.

EDIT: oh yeah, and 1 more server would effectively double CCPs operating costs, and a 3rd would triple, and so on, which makes it economically unfeasible.

The Mattani has a choice. The individual goon has a brand on his rear.

Your choice has meaning... to you. No one else noticed. Seriously.Roll

I'm sorry you fail to understand the underlying principle of a single shard sandbox MMO.

what is it with people just not getting the very core basic ideology behind eve ?

The game literally smacks you in the face that it is a single server, pvp, player controlled environment, yet people are still intent on advocating for core changes in game mechanics. ( what i find even more incredulous is that most of these people signed up to eve for these very same core experiences, yet they push to change them.)

You don't understand Eve or what its about.

If you want to play "high sec miner" go play X3 or Pioneer or any number of modern freeware elite clones.

If you want to play "small grow of IRL friends in space" try Blockade runner, Minecraft or Shores Of Hazeron.

I'd go quickly if I were you, I think your about to get lynched for being a troll.

How dare you belittle Elite's name by calling that piece of **** aka X3 an elite clone?????????

yeah, I'm not sure this would be that good for eve.. if you really want to be separate I guess you could log into sisi.

Not nearly as sad as thinking a product can only have one selling point Roll

It's because EVE is the best implemented space game in town in terms of art design, graphics, world design and lore, so naturally people whose main interest isn't combat PvP but want to play a well-implemented space game will try and put pressure on CCP to change it to their liking. It's only natural.

What EVE really needs is a well-designed and largely PvE competitor to EVE. Then you wouldn't get these constant suggestions from PvE players who just want to goof off pretending they're a space pilot (I freely admit I'm one of those, it's just that I'm happy with EVE as it is, and find I'm able to play it the way I want so long as I'm careful - however, it would be nice to be able to relax more, and if EVE had a true - but PvE - competitor, I mean a competitor in terms of quality and lore, I'd probably move there).

Would it be too picky to point out we are playing in a galaxy, not a universe? A universe is comprised of galaxies.

Just pointing that out. ♥

Its actually a cluster, not a galaxy. Check your lore.
