Question about planetary interaction

Ok, so I have a few quick questions about Planetary Interaction, if anyone have any knowledge on the matter and is willing to share.

1: Do lower sec systems normally have better Planets? I.E, would a 0.6 Planet have better output than a 0.8 Planet?

2: Is it better farm Raw / Tier 1 PI mats (Carbon compounds, Water, ect ect), or to put them through processing? I.E should I focus on one type of planet and just get the same Raw / Tier 1 mat? or should I farm multiple types and make higher end goods?

3: If I should make higher end goods, what ones use Storm, Barren, Temperate, and Gas PI goods?

4: If you are already at your limit for Planet colonization, can you still place more Command Centers on the planets you've already settled? or is it 1 per?

1. Yes. The lower the sec the better the resources. Lowest is -1.0 found in a few nulsec systems and all of w-space.

2. Never export / import raw P0. At the very least process to P1.

3. Planetary Interaction Material Diagram (official thread)

4. One command center (CC) per planet. You can do up to (1 + level of Interplanetary Consolidation) planets.

Ok thank you very much. Last question, Is it better to sell off Tier 1 goods, or is there any higher Tier goods that are worth making either from scratch (harvesting it all yourself) or buying tier 1 on the market?

That largely depends on your supply of P0.

In hisec, I find that extract varies from horrible to really really bad, so selling P1 can be better. Oxygen and water for example.

When I was doing extraction in w-space and moving freighters filled with P1 to hisec, I found making P2 and P3 to be profitable, and about as labour intensive as I cared for. I believe I was making 21 m/day per factory planet with P2.

If you don't do extraction, you may find doing higher ends P3 and P4 more profitable because of customs fees.

AH! ok, does that mean there is any profitable "Factory Worlds"?

Factory worlds can be quite profitable if you have access to low tax or free customs offices. In w-space I generally take a worthless planet and setup a factory planet to produce mechanical parts, and robotics. All the rest of my planets produce tier 1 product that are then used directly or transfered to the factory planet. The danger with a factory planet is the import and export taxes eating into your profits. This combined with the best planets is why a null sec and wormhole corp member can rake in the isk while HS will only net you modest returns.

PS- In general it's best to produce POS fuel as most other PI goods aren't very profitable.

With PI prices in decline but PI taxes remaining static, high sec worlds are becoming less and less profitable. If you have to do high sec PI, find an area with not a lot of traffic. Check with your corp to see if they have any PI holdings in low or null. Even if they don't, grab a cheap ship and scout out your local pocket of low sec. You may find some POCOs with reasonable tax rates.

If you have no choice but to stick to high sec, find a less-traveled high sec system and do P1 extractions.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.
