you ought to break even, I think, since they can't be tanked to resist a single t1 destroyer

On the other hand you don't get the T2 salvage or loot drops, and the sec hit is just as bad

Don't cheap out

Also tell mittens to stop shillyshallying and declare Tengugeddon

Posting on this character because apparently some people get upset when they're asked difficult questions. M.

I'm more thinking about that other game, which you say is like eve, but pure MT based so you lose real money when you get blown up.

Can't remember the name tho.

Takes a minute to drop below 0 if you started at 5, which most nullseccer have, since its only possible to gain sec status in null, but not lose it.

you don't even need to rat to gain sec status: explorers get it too

overseers give you sec status (and a lot of it, actually)

weaselior is now -10 but he was up pretty high despite never ratting since like 2007 since I used to do a lot of exploring (and hell, even blew all my sec status once during the original jihadswarm)

The ships are fine, the players need to adjust to the changing conditions. Their practicality in certain areas may now be limited, but they are not dead by a long shot.

With less hull hp than a heavy drone, and longer align than a carrier, you can "adjust" it as much as adjusting a Titan for scouting. Adaption only works when the tools are available for a player to do so. Roll

Probably the most worthwhile thing left to say is that the title of this thread is highly ironic.

No, it's not at all like that, but yes, that is actually the reason why terrorism is used: because conventional warfare against an enemy that is that much stronger would be completely futile.

The whole point of asymmetric warfare (aka terrorism) is to beat a strong enemy with very limited, simple, and cheap means.

And anyway, you missed the point of what I was saying. It had nothing to do with suicide ganking (“terrorism”) — the strength in this case is measured against a completely different kind of threat. Read it again.

Anyway…

When was the last time anyone actually sat down and clocked the CONCORD response times at various sec levels?
My corp did before the caldari ice interdiction. We also tested all sorts of tank on barges to see what we could do and to get the best out of our gank ships.
…I decided to go find out for myself. The results were interesting.

Very nice.

It looks an awful lot to me like concord isn't there to save anyone though, only to punish the offender. You would think that if CCP intended concord to save anyone, they would have concord destroy you within a second or two of spawn, instead of giving you 15 seconds. Almost like CCP set it up so that if you attack someone, you have an opportunity to attempt to finish the job before you go boom.

Good lord, I really messed that quote all up. ******* drugs.

I know its extreamly exciting watching, well, absolutely nothing happen, having to click a button, then click-drag once every 2-5mins, and other than do that, nothing else whatsoever apart from staring at the screen.

i mean, who would actualy want to pull their eyes away from all that nonstop action! Stuff is constantly happening! If you look away for even a second you may risc missing the cycle on your mining laser!!

/scarcasm

If mining wasnt so fuckbear boring, people wouldent afk mine. CCP knows this, CCP Doesnt care, you all know this, you prefer to trolololo

I personally love how people use AFK as if it means something other then away from keyboard.

As though you couldn't put the game in windowed mode and surf the net or watch a movie or something while you're mining with other people.

CCP really needs to put belt rats that are an atual threat in systems outside of the first two you encounter when you start the game. I don't mind all the bitching about hi sec ganking, it's actually the AFK thing that bothers me. If it bores you that much that you're not willing to even be at your PC do other things, or minimizing the client for an hour or so so that you can mine in an indie ship, then you should probably find things in the game that you actually enjoy doing enough to actually play the game.

Rats should spawn based on the ships in the belt. Lots of ships, more rats. Lots of small frigate miners, lots of weaker firigate rats. T2 miners and indie ships in a belt, then rats in cruisers and destroys, and spawned in an appropriate amount to the number of ships there.

Why do they bother giving you a warning message about space being dangerous and then having belts spawn rats that pose zero threat to anyone that's played for longer then a week. It makes no sense and only encourages people like the person I quoted to think that it's perfectly acceptable AFK from a game.

I always assumed that AFK was a noise you made when something bad happened. These new fangled words always seem to confuse me, thats why I got my grandson with me. His names Jack and he knows all the hip words to say so I fit in with the crowd. I remember one time me and my grandson Ted had a funny moment when someone typed WFT. I looked over at little Tyler and he smiled and said what it meant and we laughed... up until I told him to get a switch for saying such words...
