It does... but the DCU II is worth 7000 EHP and fitting MLU II runs into CPU issues quite easily.

It's still possible though.

If you don't fit a damage control unit your tank will be minimal. Even with a full on tank you're going to be lucky to get 30k EHP. Of course you won't be able to fit MLUs and a decent tank due to CPU demands.

Provide evidence, or failing that, just be honest and say that you simply gank miners because you can.

Well we certainly wouldn't gank miners if we couldn't. Blink

As to your question of percentages, it is common knowledge that botting and going AFK are the norm for miners. If you have evidence to contradict common knowledge, I'd be interested in seeing it. Since extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, the burden of proof rests upon your shoulders. Good luck with that. Lol

Can you also talk out of your mouth?

PG implant. If you get podded in highsec you were AFK anyway.

That wouldn't surprise me because god knows we cannot allow people in small time corps or solo to make a decent living in game...

The market and skills related to the market should be nerfed too because OMG You can make billions AFK!! WTFBBQ>!>!>??

If you read over alot of the threads, people claim that its impossible to pay attention to mining, or that they only mine because that way they can play while doing homework/watch netflix/play with the kids. I have seen all 3 of those exact statements in the past, and only in a few threads(like this one) do people consistently claim otherwise.

On the other hand, some do claim to do it only atk, while drinking and hanging out with their buddies on comms, which is the right way to do it, and should keep you alive(if you fit enough tank that you can't miss the gank fleet coming for you)

I read many threads and in many of those threads are people proclaiming they aren't afk when mining. AFK is Away From Keyboard. If you're watching netflix while mining you're not AFK. Just like when I watch netflix while running lvl 4s I'm not AFK. Doing homework does not equal AFK either. When I'm doing my online course on screen two while mining on screen one I am NOT AFK.

Exhumers fill their cargo usually in two cycles which means if you're playing with jimmy you either have to leave him every 300-360 seconds or you're wasting resources and time. So that means you're getting NOWHERE near the maximum isk per hour that everyone claims you're making.

Botters are an entirely separate problem and I believe CCP should be dealing harshly with those who do so. Whether they are in nullsec or highsec it doesn't matter to me.

If you are not paying attention to eve, then you are AFK.

And yeah, I tend to assume that the people claiming to be off doing laundry or playing with the kids are at least using one of the mouse macros that will automagically move the ore from their holds to a can/orca. Those are people who don't even think they are botting(because all their macro does is dump their ore) and, because of the simplicity of the macro, are hard for CCP to detect. I know when I mine I actually do dump the ore immediately(I do it in a retriever, so lack the hold space for even 1 cycle of both strips) so it is hard to do a behavioral analysis that won't come up with alot of false positives, which CCP needs to avoid.

Your description of "AFK" applies to nearly everyone in the game at this very moment. Even those sitting in nullspace don't pay attention to the game constantly. AT the very least people will be distracted by chat which is no different then being distracted by homework or a movie.

Indeed it would be difficult if not impossible for CCP to catch those cheaters. Those people are indeed cheating and in my view are actually botting.

The safer hisec gets the less isk can be made there. It's no coincidence that the safer it got the less profitable it became.

A) Chatting, thats part of the game, so you are paying attention.

B) If you are in space and not watching at the very least your overview, you should die.(In nullsec extend this to local and intel channels). Docked up, who cares if you are afk, as long as you don't run a market bot.

C) Distracted is one thing, not paying attention is another. If you are capable of noticing someone warping in on your overview, you are paying attention, if you failed to notice someone warping in, then you should die.

PS. Little tip, make sure all players, even those with neutral or no standing, have colors assigned to them on your overview. That way you don't die because you failed to notice your overview got one line longer, you will instead notice that solid yellow/orange/red/whatever color you like bar appear and warp out before he finishes landing from warp. You did realize you can see people on your overview several seconds before they can even begin locking, right?

Better not let your thoughts wander for a moment or you're AFK!!!.. crap I was thinking of the forums so I'm AFK.. CRAP I POSTED NOW I"M REALLY AFK..

my ship spinning is only up to 203 ;(

Edit : I do praise you for offering solid advice though.

I run full scans I have corporations and people assigned colors and I watch local channel numbers like a hawk. I also run full tanks along with support links on my orca to give all the tank I can get.

I know that I am not gankproof and my isk per hour took a nasty hit but in a way I almost like this because at least mining isn't so damned boring anymore.

Gankers mad at miners.

I personally don't care what either side thinks. However it's apparent that there's a very strong surge of hate against a certain community within EvE that in general I do not consider healthy for EvE as a game. Now miners are responding with counter-hate threads. Soon we'll all be cursing and swearing at each other because of...real hate over a fake video game.

We will all start to look ridiculous to outsiders who just started the game or were looking at the forums to decide whether or not to give it a try.

In all honesty Goonswarm, gank away. However, at least tell people it's for your Tech profits and not to "RID THE WORLD OF OF THE HEATHEN AFK MINERS" "HATE THEM" "BLAME THEM" "PERSECUTE THEM" "KILL THEM"

Why don't we rid the world of AFK mission runners and 0.01 ISK bots and jump freighters (yes there are bots that YOU NULL BEARS USE FOR JUMP FREIGHTING, MOON GOO AND EVEN YOU INTEL CHANNELS/AFK Cloakers). We don't rid the world of them because the EFFECT of their destruction does not generate a mathematically stable source of Tech income. This proves you are only ganking Hulks for Tech and not for this new religious movement of purging EvE of afk income earners.

However, you're overtly creating hatred in a manner which shouldn't be tolerated in any video GAME (or REAL LIFE) no matter what the game is supposed to be about.

Go ahead and gank the miners to oblivion, but don't become hate merchants at the same time. I am ashamed that CCP has let you guys go that far.

This level of hate is bad for the community and should not be tolerated.

I'm not going to place blame on the miners for this hate-fest because you guys are the ones that zealously promoted the hate to begin with.

anger and hatred are different.

Don't post on the forums if you are in space, duh? And that one comes from someone who loves him some forum poasting. Cool

My record for spins is 1033, iirc. I really need to work on that one, I've heard of people breaking 10k.

Then you are actually starting to play the game the right way. To have fun.

Mining sucks, no 2 ways about it, I think it may be part of the reason miners are so heavily targeted. Its hard for people who really have fun at this game to imagine that anyone would actually play that way for long and not be a bot. Goons want EVERYONE to understand that space pixels are here for fun, so they try to make the game interesting for everyone.

Interesting, however, doesn't always mean enjoyable. First time I flew in a fleet with goons, FC got bored and called me primary.
