Low Sec Gate Camp Drake Setup

Hi

Im a low skill point character and want to try low sec gate camping...I know I need to train for a HIC but in the meantime I only can really use a drake to learn etc.

1. My question is what setup can you suggest?

2. How much DPS do gate guns do?

3. Do gate guns do omni damage?

4. What buffer should i aim for?

Get friends to go along with your HAM Drake.

330DPS omni with perfect tracking at a low sec gate.

Use your friends as a buffer and always have an escape plan.

Here are a few essentials you'll need for effective gate camping:
-Forward and back scouts, preferably alts to not bore someone to death.
-Off grid fleet booster for shield/armour (depending on fleet) and the Skirmish Warfare Link running to increase Web/Scram range.
-Sensor boosted HIC (preferably the Devoter/Phobos) to catch any fast-align ships and warp stabbed ships.
-Plenty of safe spots in the system including a deep safe and a gate safe in order to maintain close distance to the gate whilst waiting out GCC timer.
-If there aren't any stations in system fit either remote reps in utility highs, use armour maint drones or have a dedicated Logi pilot or two.

As for what buffer you'd need, that depends on how comfortable you are with gate camping and how busy the route is. I routinely camped with a Shield Nano Talos because I couldn't be bothered getting another ship.
