I really don't understand how miners are unable to use a simple tool like d-scan.

There are so many clues that you are about to be a victim if you are not AFK.

I have a question for miners though, why play a game you don't play? CCP puts in all this effort to build a ton of content and you just turn your lasers on and walk away. Oh well I'm chatting with friends or reading a book. Sure, but why play eve when you have no interest really in the game.

Are you just not interested in other aspects of the game? If so, why play ? Why pay 14.99 a month or buy plex for something you don't even use?

I mine in lowsec, without any issues, because I actually spend time scouting the belts, making bookmarks for evasive manuevers and enabling myself to warp around and mine even with enemy ships. The key to survival is MOVING. By creating and piloting your ship toward points in space you can INSTA warp in case of trouble, and in lowsec you don't even need to worry about bubbles or harder game mechanics. Cloaked ships are not even an issue because as soon as I see someone in local I immediately begin to align.

Also, grav belts are even safer in lowsec! Not only can I mine with locals all around me, I have an early warning system when a probe is within 14 au. This gives me MORE then enough time to align and move out.

There are SO many tools available to warn you very early that you are about to be attacked and even then there are ways to avoid being ganked simply by operating the controls.

Well, jeez, you're just a champ, you win it all. Everybody should enjoy the game exactly the same way you do, without variation or exception. Thank you for assuming all miners are the same with the glorious exception of you.

I'm totally not bragging about being a champ, I lost ships and read up to avoid making the same mistakes, when I play a game though I immerse myself in the game, I don't AFK, so I'm wondering why people play a game they dont play?

x +1 Indeed there are so many tools and ways to make your exhumer difficult to destroy. Rather than explore ways to make it a fair fight, they rage quit. Jeez

If you weren't quitting, you could be a champ like OP, too.

I'm glad you enjoy spamming dscan every 2 seconds for endless hours, good for you.

Not everybody's cup of tea though, most don't want to get index finger arthritis at a young age Blink

Yet another redundant forum post.. I would honestly rather read a post from a crazed, fed-up, miner whose going to quit the game than another pontificating ego maniac telling us all how to play.

  - remove the cloaked from local; free intel is the real problem, not  "afk" cloaking -

Because its a sandbox, and miners can play how they like.

They do have a Healthy interest in the game, thats balanced with RL, I don't think spamming dscan obsessively and continuously for hours daily, which in turn becomes weeks and months and even years, is a healthy past time.

I'm no miner but this might be of use.
Using some Dscan and keeping aligned should significantly reduce chances of being ganked.
assuming perfect mining and mining drone skills are added

If you whine about lack of isk, you best understand that I make on average under 10 mill a day and still have a nice amount of isk.

If you want real isk go to low/null/wh

If you've never played Sins of a Solar Empire to the point where you have at least 5 systems heavily defended and locked down with max fleet and research and can sit back and watch your wealth grow while you browse the internet, then you probably couldn't understand the appeal.

So close...

A lot of them RMT. Others are just fixated on building points (isk) with no greater purpose. In either case, they contribute nothing to the EVE community and are not worth the risk of having around.

Why not? Everyone else does.

Sure I can AFK rat in a droneboat, but you won't see me whining when I roll back to my PC and find it blown up.

In lowsec you get ONE or two people going through a system every 2 hours. you only spam it every 5 seconds when you see local spike etc.

Most pilots are in highsec, very few in lowsec, play the numbers and you win.

There is a greater threat of getting killed in highsec then lowsec because you have the pre assumption that you are safe.
Instead in lowsec everyone is treated with equal respect and caution.

Don't group all miners together..

The ones that get killed, aren't that smart.. The ones that are smart, you never see, or manage to kill in the first place..

This is just a little natural selection at work..

Why I understand the dangers and trust me even if an entire fleet showed up in lowsec to gank me they would have to catch me when my computer crashes or i get dcd

I'm telling you it's safer then you can imagine, the rule is very simple. make align spots travel while mining and being aligned, if it gets too hot in system clone jump to another lowsec clone.

Traveling without moving.

I have not payed with money for eve in 8 months I know what I'm talking about.

Unlike highsec you cannot mine continuously in lowsec but you have much better ore so you mine less.
