EVE is not CCP's top priority?

Heard this on the grapevine that despite the uprising and the fallout from last years mess, it seems EVE is still not the top priority of CCP. It seems that DUST514 and WOD are at the top of CCP's list of relevance to their business plan. EVE is still getting support, but it is not CCP's main goal any longer.

This would be sad if it is true.

There is only way you can make Eve priority for CPP - quick! push biomass button.

Dust is in beta, so of course it has to be a focus right now. Any product undergoing a rollout will have to be a priority. Once it rolls out they can see what impact it has and adjust resources accordingly.

Haven't heard a peep about WoD in a while though.

It would make sense for dust to be a top priority, it actually expanding on the EVE universe and well as evolving EVE itself.

WoD though? Isn't that the MMO they put on hold a while back, then started work on with a limitted development staff?

You are on crack. Crack is wack. Eve is CCPs number one priority by so much. All one needs to do is read some of the testimonals of former CCP employees to see that Eve is priority numero uno. Dust 514, although will probably make them some money on it's own, will make most of it's money by getting people into New Eden then to Eve. Dust is to Eve what America's Army is to the real US Army.

And didn't they just cut WoD development team?

With the console Unified Inventory they rolled out this week you can tell EVE is not the top priority.

It's been made abundantly clear that EVE is CCP's priority in the long term, DUST514 is almost ready for release (in terms of total development time) and World of Darkness has been shelved apart from a skeleton crew of less than 10 people.

Let's not forget about them doing nothing to stop Hulkageddon. Because every thread has to be about inventory and ganking hulks.

DUST514 is almost ready for release, as stated before, so with that almost out of the way and with the predicted income from it, CCP can continue WoD development. This means that any profit from EVE will be channelled back in to EVE. Priorities seem fairly in order to me.

Oh come on everyone knows that is a cover story to hide the fact that he is a Thetan sent by L Ron Hubbard himself to turn control of the world over to John Travolta.

Right, so their priority list is DUST514, WOD and then EVE.

Right, so their priority list is DUST514, WOD and then EVE.

You aren't too bright are you? CCP has different development teams for each game. The biggest issue before was that DUST514 and WoD were both taking money and staffing away from EVE. In response to community outrage CCP shelved development of WoD and re-focused on EVE and DUST514.

Now that DUST514 is almost ready to be released, its team will be increased, with any EVE staff being put back into EVE, and be self funding once it goes live, this means no further funding or staff will need to be re-tasked from EVE. The profits that CCP make from EVE and from Dust514 will be used to continue developing EVE and also to re-start the development of WoD. This is exactly the way every other multi-product company in the world does business.

As to the advert linked in the other post, it is no indication of development priority that WoD and DUST514 are mentioned first, as these are both new titles with small staff numbers, and rather than take EVE staff away to work on these products, the company has taken the wise decision to hire new staff. As for EVE, it will continue to develop along the lines that were drawn up and mentioned in Hilmars apology letter.

All the whining and screaming is nothing more than troll talk by people who have a limited or non-existent understanding of business practices, advertising, HR or common sense.
