Your favorite method of exercise

Exercise: One of the things that westerners rarely get enough of. There are very many good recommendations on frequency of exercise, different intensities for different experience levels, and different types of exercises available. Not only that, but exercise is as easy as going outside to take a quick run around the block.

And yet, so few people do it.

So I ask, what is your favorite form of exercise that you like to get often?

I can start...

I switch my routines every day. One day I'll do aerobic (run or get on a bike) for 5 to 10 minutes, set to an intermediate pace. I then do a full body weightlifting routine which takes about 45 minutes to an hour, including core. The next day I will either run or bike for 30 minutes (this will probably increase as time goes on, I'm just starting out again since I got out of school).

Running after a PKM in a machine gun nest you didn't see opens up on you, don't think I've ever moved faster in my life. really gets the blood going, then you get to call in the 60mm mortars. Had 155s available but the enemy was within 300 yards of us so that was a no go.

After that sucks though because then you want nothing more than to get laid but it's 112 degrees and there are no women Sad

*Edit: Realized a few people here wouldn't know a PKM from a glock so here it is, the 2nd most horrifying sound you can hear from our current enemy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTaHejAdF-4

This is why I did not join the military.

Not sure if this counts as an exercise routine, but I'll consider it next time I'm feeling brave Straight

they're now letting women into more combat roles, Navy EOD now allows women which is weird considering they jump/swim in with SEALs, Green Berets, and Force Recon

What?

I am not a woman though. Already finished college also, so they would probably stick me somewhere else aside from any special forces groups if I did decide to join.

Surfin just lives in Arizona where the women might as well be men and the gun laws are the more you can carry on you the better.

WTF who would have a PKM in Alabama? Is there some sort of redneck rebellion going on down there that doesn't make the news?

Was a weapons systems tech in the AF for 8 years. This quote is really true for me:

'If you see a bomb technician running, try to keep up with him.'

Loading AIM-120 Amraams on an F-15 in Saudi. the load adapter on the lift truck broke and down one went. I have never got up (yes, the missile hit my legs on the way down) and ran so fast in my life. Contusions and all. The titanium fins missed my left leg by 6 inches.

But to keep with the OP. Exercise that is a matter of life and death is the kind I like. hehe Twisted

We have a saying... be polite, be professional, have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

The people (for the most part) were really nice but you always expect them to shoot you the second you turn around. Also they have great USDA grade F goat meat Big smile

Found all the USMC rules :)

1. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns. Bring all of your friends who have guns.

2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.

3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss is a slow miss.

4. If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not moving fast enough nor using cover correctly.

5. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. [Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred.]

6. If you can choose what to bring to a gunfight, bring a long gun and a friend with a long gun.

7. Ten years from now, no one will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.

8. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating, reloading, and running.

9. Accuracy is relative. [Most combat shooting standards will be more dependent on "pucker factor" than the inherent accuracy of the gun.]

10. Use a weapon that works every time. [All skill is in vain when an angel pisses in the flintlock of your musket.]

11. Someday someone may kill you with your own weapon, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

12. Always cheat; always win. If you walk away, it was a fair fight. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.

13. Always have a plan.
13.1 Have a back-up plan, because the first one won't work.

14. Use cover or concealment as much as possible. The visible target should be in FRONT of your gun.

15. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.

16. Don't drop your guard.

17. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees.

18. Watch their hands. Hands kill. [In God we trust. Everyone else, keep your hands where I can see them].

19. Decide to be aggressive ENOUGH, quickly ENOUGH.

20. The faster you finish the fight, the less shot you will get.

21. Be polite. Be professional. But have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

22. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one.

23. Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.

oh hey, ima come stalk you. P

I kinda do whatever I feel like. I've been walking for 3 miles on the weekdays and following up with a 20 minute upper body / core alternating every other day. I've gotten lazy these last few days, I totally blame EvE.

EDIT: triggers on a SAW are pretty firm, its those stupid M-16's that are trigger happy. I made myself deaf and burned my ear with an empty blank cartridge out in NTC because of that. We'll not talk about why my finger was resting gently on the trigger while I was yapping with the gun fasing skyward , butt resting on my shoulder.

So close...

kind of getting back to the original topic, I bike everywhere. it works great for exercise, and sometimes I'm actually faster than people in cars. I managed to cover about 3km faster than cars because I was able to cut through some places where they would have had to wait at a light or something.
I walk sometimes, but because of various broken things in my back, I can't do much more than that without hurting myself more.
if you're going to the gym, the orbital machine is a good one for burning fat as it holds your momentum, and since it's designed to use your arms too, you get more of a full boy workout than with the stationary cycles. if you don't have much of a gut, the rowing machine is a pretty good one, but if you do have a gut, you might find your legs running into your gut and you have a really hard time keeping your breathing consistent.

i like biking on the trail by my house. i hate it when cyclists ride on the road, though, since they NEVER stop at stop signs. EVER. almost hit a cyclist the other day when he blew through a stop sign right in front of me. good thing i was only going 40, so i had time to stop.

We are talking about Alabama Lol

I am mostly aerobic when I do actually go to a gym. Sometimes we do a little strength building excessive on the treadmill by making the runner carry a dvd player or tv, then we crank his speed up to 9 and then to build coordination he has to occasionally look over his shoulder while running. But really, I walk everywhere and I dance a lot.

yeah, even as a cyclist, I hate those guys that figure they own the road. I use the bike paths when I can, but on one road, I just stay on the sidewalk and give pedestrians the right of way. I do roll through stop signs, but only where there's no cars there or going towards it, this is just because of how much of a pain it is to get going again on a bike.
so far the only generic group of motorists that I hate are old people driving their oversized vehicles like Winnebagos and giant trucks. any time I've been clipped or nearly run into the sidewalk as they cluelessly edge over into the bike lane, it's been some old person. mind you, the one time I was actually hit was an 18-24 teen driving what was probably his parents minivan.
