With the release of Inferno the Merlin frigate has had a complete overhaul.

With the slot layout changes, different bonusses and the availability of Small Processor Overclocking rigs all previous fits need to be reworked.

Dual prop ftw, I'm not a fan of using a single Ancil booster on a pvp fit, it doesn't boost enough to make up for the EHP loss from not fitting an MSE and by the time you reloaded the fight is over.

MSE II - gives 1050 shield.
Medium A. Booster - gives 1603 in 25.5 seconds.
It's a tossup here. Frigates are fragile and you might not get that 25.5 seconds. You will get a smaller sig radius though as well as gentler fitting restrictions.

LSE II - gives 2625 shield.
Large A. Booster - 5577 shield in 46.8 seconds.


People look at the new a. boosters in terms of DPS that can be tanked. That really does't give them justice. You are trading actual buffer for injectable buffer. A Ferox with 20k in shields would have close to 100k EHP. The fit would be very impractical though. We can instead give it 6k in shields with the option to inject 14k with an X-large A. Booster. In addition we'll give the ship a web to go along with it's point. It seems like a very good deal to me.

The LASB is like having 3 resisted shield extenders. With the possibility of even more ehp in 60 seconds. This scales from merlin all the way to rokh and Rattlesnake. Active tanks 380d per sec for 13 cycles or whatever.

Don't forget about extender rigs. While I understand your reasoning to me a single Ancil doesn't change the "active vs EHP" discussion, not on frigates. Dual ancils on (for instance) a Cyclone do make full sense.
