Faction warfare a bit… Clicky.

After the change to the wardec system. Making it cost over 100m+ for any war after the first active one, thought I’d give FW a try, tried it briefly when it first came out but was a bit too blobby for my taste, I’m a solo/small fleet kind of guy.

I pretty much expected blobs but, it really wasn’t so bad in that regard, in fact it was an improvement on my taste of encounters for small fleet stuff. Not as fun as solo but I can say I had a good time with one fleet on their TS server one night, more or less because they were funny as hell.

But starting out finding a fleet can be rather hard. Mainly due to paranoia, with spies. You see a public fleet, you join it say hello, then you’re kicked or no one says a word, ever. Won’t even provide comms info. If you happen to find them you still won’t receive any form of communication. Once you find someone that will let you in and communicate, you can get a decent roam going for the pve stuff like capturing but not so much for hunting, unless of course it’s a trap (more on that later).

I spent most of my time solo in Faction war due to this. But in the late evening I had a group I could join so that was cool.

What put me off on the whole thing from my experience I had blues attacking me often (I had a positive sec status for once). Also blue fleet members designated to set a trap for their pirate alts. The reason? Corps “claim” systems in faction warfare, if they catch you in there they get emo in local and tell you to get out. If you refuse a pirate fleet comes in, presumably their alts to get you out of the system.

Or if you jump in the system and see them getting owned and you try to help out, you will be trashed talked to get out (by the blues that are loosing!).

If it was a rare occurrence I could make due. But it happened multiple times a day by different corps in systems all over. When I got in to it, I was hoping for something less political then null, less blobs and hopefully some good company and team work.

One of the guys I rolled with said he didn’t experience anything like I have. Perhaps I’m just that lucky.

Guess it’s just my principles but I feel you should not have allies remote repping FW targets and this nap crap. In just a couple days I honestly couldn’t think of anything else in Eve that was this clicky or less rewarding then what I experienced.

I’m pretty disappointed I was really hoping that would work out. The new wardec changes really put a hurt on us. Broke down and started grinding sec status to get a few kills before I’m punished for seeking out that content and having to rep it back up again. Never find a good WH to jump someone in, and null solo you’re a bit limited on what you can bring, has to be dual prop or at least pretty darn fast to escape the blobs, or at least enough to separate to get a fight out of it.

I’m doing it wrong; it really shouldn’t be this hard to find some decent fights without something to grind to do so.

Apply to one of the corps. General Militia are more or less assumed to be alts or spies, because mostly they are.
If you are on later, then you will find Late Nite are a bit cliquey. Don't expect open arms until they feel you can contribute.
Check the killboards and find a corp active in your TZ. This is much easier than trying to prove yourself from general militia

Also, your head is sexy, but your moustache worries me. Maybe they thought you were Mexican? They already have one.

Are you wearing one of those face nose, glasses and moustache thingies?? Spyyy! :P :D

More seriously:

I never had that trouble myself, but I have heard from others that they had a hard time getting any kind of acceptance from their Militia. It really is just pure spy paranoia on their part. (Some of it justified as there are a large number of the wee barstewards infesting the NPC militia corps.)

The best way to get out of the dog house is to be seen to be fighting the war, either by getting on KMs or by getting promoted up from the "rookie private" rank by doing complexes. Whatever suits your play style best.

Post-Inferno there are now hordes of solo or very small gangs spread out plexing, so getting fights is easier than ever.

Get in touch with some of the active corps in your TZ. Expect them to be somewhat apprehensive at first, but if you have a history of Fighting The Fight then they should be willing to give you a look. All the corps need active bodies.

Yea I know people say "we are too paranoid" but we have to. Its not a good thign when your fleet gets boxed in 3x because someone is relaying intel to the other side.

Very simple:

1) Post true good intel in general militia - people take notice

2) Try to get in with a player corp

3)Dont post stupid stuff in gen militia - it will crush your efforts of getting #2 done

Which faction are you flying for (assuming this is a forum alt)?

Yeah this is forum alt. I’ve never used one but I didn’t want to turn this in to a big mess with people arguing and used it to avoid the drama with those involved. My only real reason I don’t want to waste time on that stuff, nothing to gain by doing that.

I was in the Gal FW. Corp mates exprienced similar things but not as much as me, only because I’m more active. If only I had this pimpin mustache this could have all been avoided Big smile.

We joined the FW as a corp with a pretty active killboard. We didn't want to join another as we like wardecing. Some good suggestions. Perhaps in the future if the corp doesn't work out i'll join a decent FW corp and give that a go. Thanks Smile

"Spy paranoia" isn't paranoia, it's very valid and any veteran FW player can give you multiple instances where spies have ruined fleet operations, to the point of it being totally ridiculous. Some of us have tried to be inclusive with our fleets in the past and we've gotten completely burned by the effort. Some ******* always decides to take a dump in the sandbox for everyone else to deal with, so it's no surprise that people are wary after awhile.

Most of what everyone has said is a good idea if you want to actually get in fleets, but another thing is, just start your own gang if you want to actually fly with people. No one wants to take the initiative to actually do something, so if you're one of the few that do you'll have people flock to your banner. There will be some spies but most won't be, and you'll learn to tell the difference (hopefully) soon enough.

Fixed it for you .. spying/meta-gaming is not specific to FW, it is just more widespread due to it essentially being an NPC alliance thus players having little control over who joins/flies in the militias.

Hello there. If this is my beloved Gal Mil then I'd like to try and shed some light on your perceptions;

First- Be grateful that GalMil even opened up their comms channels to the general militia which includes newbies, vets, spies, and idiots alike. I logged on a few days ago and noticed a few of our senior FCs letting in general militia members into our public area and leading them on a roam and educating them on the basics of FW life. I was shocked because this had never happen before. Ever. It's obvious that GalMil feels we need new stars to rise up and help out the veterans who have been here for awhile. Someone's gotta kill those squid plex farmers and we can't be everywhere

Second- Regarding clickyness. Yeah, that's just gonna happen with the public channel. Gotta deal with it and get a thick skin. Some of the advice Bolster and Tyson articulated is true and may get you "in". In fact, there is one corp that is new to FW and they already have their own corp channel within our secured channels. I was surprised to see this so I'm not sure what the CEO said or did. I suspect it's because they have already moved deep into the warzone with the rest of us and are being perceived as more of an asset than a liability. The last major corp to move deep into the warzone and gain access to private comms, was, well, mine :) Look up where we rank in the GalMil KBs and you'll see why.

Third- Take advantage of the fact that you now have the public channel and use it. Lead your own roams if you like with the general militia. If anything, you'll start to see what we see and may not be as critical. It's honestly tiring to see people continue to ask for someone else to lead militia roams and ask for a handout. If you want a fight, go lead a roam rather than ask for pvp on a platter.

Fourth- Don't read too much into the some of GalMil members being quiet when you log in. It's nothing against you. I've found that some of GalMil can be more of the introverted quiet types relative, to say, their counterparts, Minmatar Militia. I've been on Minnie comms and their fleets, and it's quiet the social atmosphere. In fact, sometimes it's too much rabble rabble.

Finally, post Inferno, general militia channel is very very busy with chatter. I see alot of senior GalMil pilots helping out the newbs as best they can with solid advice. This was not always the case pre Inferno. Things have changed albeit slowly.

Ultimately, change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.

High Five. Yeah! C'est La Eve .

I have no clue as to what you are referring to here. I've never heard of GalMil shooting their own unless you were outlaw and their overview wasn't set up correctly. I've also never heard of any corp owned system making threats of such kind either. I don't see why they would emo in local.

Some fleets just don't want to bother with "let me go to jita and buy the ship you ask for, can you make the fleet wait 30 minutes for me?". It's easier to recruit first day in militia guys and get them going on the same page as the rest of the people you fly with (having ships in the same location ready, proper fits, etc).

Spy paranoia is there but if any corp is so fearful of spies that they don't recruit when all this new interest in FW is causing a flood of new blood in their militia deserves to probably die as a corp (unless you know, you have 100 guys that already work well together...). Also, its MUCH easier to root out spies if you recruit them and fly with them on a regular basis rather than randoms all the time it's hard to keep track. Big smile

And your so honorable friends have never infiltrated enemy TS and then gone on long-winded rant about Damar Rocarion, followed by multiple repetitions of F & C words before being kicked? Right....

I keep taking a dump to FW as often as I can, simply because the enemy will do the same whenever they can.
