Doubt if it was intelligence, more likely no woman would want you.

Guess we know how your daddy treated you.

No it's intelligence... I can't stand the screechy little brats... And there are many women out there who love to remain child free...

This thread sure has fallen into the trash pit of hateful negative responses.

You really need to sort this out.

I dont want to be rude but they're gonna destroy you when they're older if you keep letting them be spoiled like this.

Well, this is the end of the road for me. I resubbed 2 months ago to help out friends to reach an old goal and to see what EVE has become after 1.5 years. What I found was the same “All or nothing” time investment in EVE, especially in the 0.0 regions where I have been from 2005 till now.

As I cannot invest the same amount of time like in 2005, due to becoming father of 2 kids.. I need smaller goals which I can reach in my own time and pace. But the reality is that the EVE gameplay mechanics did not change, it is still the “all or nothing” deal. Roams and CTA’s begin before the kids are in bed and end when I should be in bed 2 hours ago. There is often no way to catch up with the fleet or logout somewhere in random 0.0 space as you will die on the way back the next day.

Still the strict fleets, mandatory ship types being called for, no ships what I find fun to fly. From an alliance point of view, strict fleets is a must or you will lose wars.

There is still no meaningful PVP targets that can make a profit for a PVP’er, like raid able posses or even stations. Which are doable with little PVP fleets and do not need the 250+ fleets!
It is a shame really, I find the 0.0 politics great reading but even more being part of it. Yet my increasing age, and with it increased duties, prevents me to play EVE the way it should be played: All or nothing.

I hoped CCP would change the gameplay to cater the ever changing player base, we are still the same people we just grew older!

99% of the gameplay is dictated by players. Take it up with them.

This is what I was thinking.

No there are none.

Girls may tell you this but try to talk with older women who never had daughters/sons, they're the most miserable things ever, despite what feminists try to argue.

Also keep in mind those brats are the only way something of you will survive your death.
Not only your genes, the education you gave them etc.

it's funny how so many "mature adults" feel that the grown-up and responsible thing to do is come to a video game forum to cry like little bitches because not everything goes exactly the way they want it to.

Useless troll posts about what people can and will post are a waste of everyone's time, every time.

Its a forum, troll, this is what it is for.

You think its a toy for you to play with and the shity mods on this forum tend to agree, so W/e

Today you laugh at Blizzard and point fingers at their WoW subscription numbers.
But in just 2-3 years you will realize that they are the only MMO producer that managed to make its product grow up along with its playerbase.

It's funny how people claim WoW is targeting the 12-year olds with Mists of Pandaria while EVE is a game for grown-ups when in reality the roles are pretty much reversed.

WoW is increasingly targeting the 30+ crowd by making sure those people still get something worthwhile out of the game even if they can't raid 3-5 evenings on a fixed schedule (the way they could in college or before they had children) anymore.
More focus on content that you can finish in 20-40 minutes, small farmville-like things that allow you to feel some progress with even less continuous time investment and tools like raid finder that allow you to do the more time-consuming parts on your own schedule (it groups you up with random players at a greatly reduced difficulty setting so you don't have to feel bad if you have a real-life interruption and leave the raid halfway through, they will be able to finish without you just fine and chances are you won't see them ever again anyways).

In contrast, EVE is a game for people with no lives or people who are fine with prioritizing gaming over RL - and there are no signs from CCP whatsoever that they will respond to demographic change by making it more accommodating to a mature audience.
If you are not able to commit at least 2 hours uninterrupted per play session you are effectively restricted to single player mode (mission running, mining, trading, industry, ...) and miss out on most of the big selling points of EVE.
For the 35-45 year olds who have a demanding job, a marriage, children and a quite a bit of disposable income EVE just doesn't work well.
The ability to sell PLEX for ISK is awesome in theory but gameplay is designed just the wrong way round for it to make a big difference: those activities which are accessible to people with little time are exactly the ISK-earning/grinding activities - while the "fun" group activities remain inaccessible no matter how much ISK the payer has.
If grinding would take a big (uninterrupted) time investment and "fun" activities were fast-paced and non-committal, PLEX would sell like crazy and EVE would be much better positioned than it is now.

(the day video games will again become hard, require grinding and have content for months instead of hours will be the day when gamers hit retirement age P)

Pardon me, but my father is a great man. He only beat me when he was drunk, and always told me he loved me when he was done.

You are right though, it's not by choice, I can't actually have kids. Lol@ you, insulting a cripple and pretending to be better then me! I'm laughing my ass off, thank you.

Seriously though. I have 8 neices and nephews, they're great. I love kids. Even if I could have my own, and my nerveous system wasn't killing, I still wouldn't have any. The only thing keeping me from beating the crap out of some of them is because they don't belong to me.

I was thinking the same.. instances became smaller.. quicker to finish... the first raid was with 40 people, hours at end.. it was fun but also time demanding.. now you can finish raid content with 25 people, even random pickups... Blizzard did change the gameplay to cater their aging playerbase..

I aint expecting EVE to change.. there is alot of room for extra content and gameplay to cater the more mature playerbase without changing the current gameplay... I know there is soo much to do in EVE, but if you expect players to leave their ingame friends for another gameplay thats wrong...

And 99% of game created content sucks. Hoped to find awesome castles, found sterile and pissed all over, levelled and homologated sand.

Istaria is a better sandbox for those who like to build, and it's an indie MMO with like 2k subs (older than EvE too) and 4-5 developers.

I am/was in the exact same situation as you. I joined RvB. It's a blast. You won't look back. Everything is your own time, in the ship you want to fly (mostly) and you're free to fit and fly it however you want to. If loads of glorious explosions is your game, this is the place to be.

There is another way. Don't leave. Come join us.
