Purchase SKILL POINTS with LOYALTY POINTS

A proposal to be able to purchase skill points using loyalty points in the loyalty store. It would make Faction Warfare more intense if there was something actually worth gaining (like skill points). And to all those people freaking out reading this, it would not be a 1 to 1 trade in ratio. Nah. To purchase 100,000 skill points would take 2 million loyalty points. Again, I believe this would make FW more interesting and intense considering the number of people who would become involved. One thing to remember is that skill points must NEVER be able to be purchased from the outside using cash. (Cash = Plex = Isk.) However, the benefit to loyalty points is that they can only be EARNED in the game. Not purchased like Aura or Plex. And CCP already has a Loyalty Points store set up. All that would be needed is to add another product - skill point packages.

Basic Package - 100,000 sp Price - 2 million loyalty points.
Standard Package - 500,000 sp Price - 9 million loyalty points.
Advanced Package - 1 million sp Price - 15 million loyalty points.

Oh look, you even thought about 'discount'. Smart. Really smart. Quite a thinker you are.

Yes.

Caveat: They can only be used towards ranks in Research Project Management

It will be unfair for any player to get extra skillpoints with any mechanic that all players cannot enjoy. Playing time, ISK, RL Cash, FW LP, Kill Ratio, whatever.

I think a better idea might be to let us remap our attributes at uniform intervals.
One year increments might be good.
Maybe throw in a gift remap for all payers at Christmas or something.

Not another one of you people. Seriously, where do you all come from?

No buying skill points. Ever. In any fashion. Not with LPs, not with Aurum, not with ISK, not with cash. If you want immediate satisfaction, go play some other game where everything is handed to you and thus means nothing at all. The skill system in EVE is unique. You can't buy your way up the ladder. You can't grind your way through levels, though you can certainly grind your wallet to obscene levels. You can train skills more or less at the same pace as anyone else, providing you efficiently manage your training.

Another thing to keep in mind. Skill points are not the end all be all of EVE Online. While not having skills might limit what ships you can fly or what modules you can fit, it really takes very minimal time to train the minimum requirements for most things. Most newer players are not at the immense disadvantage against older players that they think they are. The difference between someone like me who spends 30 days training for a 2% rof/damage bonus and someone who spends four days training for the same weapon falls within a statistical margin of error where individual skill, not skill points, is more likely to be the determinant factor in the outcome.

Having a whole lot of skill points isn't always that much fun. On this character I can pretty much fly any ship, any race, use every weapon system effectively, short of capitals, which I loathe something fierce. But I spend the majority of my play time on any one of my many alt accounts that have far less SP. For me at least, they tend to be more fun. Though never quite as much fun as my early days of EVE when "unlocking" a new ship or module was something new and exciting, something to look forward to as the days and hours on the skill menu counted down ever so slowly. And when they finished? A sense of accomplishment.

Rambled on enough. To reiterate my opinion on your proposal, hell no. My counter proposal? Take my initial advice and find another game to play that better fits your need for instant gratification and meaningless "level ups".

You already can, use LP to buy faction item, sell item for ISK, use risk to buy PLEX, use PLEX for game time, train another 30 days worth of SP

Instead, how about skillpoints for causing skillpoint loss? I mean why should mission running be rewarded out of all professions? Why not the honourable and ISK sinking profession of pod-killer?

******* terrible idea, often suggested and will only end up forcing people to mission whore, at the cost of all that other fun ****.

If this was to happen, i would want to see the LP store completely removed, LP cuts across the board for every mission at every level, and for all other in game professions to pay out "teh **** ton" of isk, while mission rats become bounty and lootless. Complete removal of LP from Incursions and FW.

Then we could start beginning to even consider it as "not as utterly **** idea"

I lied :o
