Lost A Skill Level!!

I was reviewing my skill set tonight to decide what direction to go next and I noticed that my Advanced Weapons Upgrade was again at level 4. I trained this skill it to level 5 quite along time ago. I counted down the days and hours for this skill to be done.

So I know it's not an oversight on my part. I went to check my skill history and it no longer shows all my history and it only goes back a month. Any helpful information would be appreciated..

You got podded without having upgraded your clone.

Thanks for your reply. I have always upgraded my clone after being podded and my skill points are at 54m which is normal. I figure if it hasn't happened to anyone else than I'm going to have to face it - that I'm some how mistaken. I've switched to AWU level 5 and will at least record it here when finished. It is a bit frustrating to remember something differently though.

Check on the 14th. Your Drake and pod got 'asploded and your Cormorant and pod were asploded 3 minutes later.

You sure you upgraded your clone?

Something I wish they would fix... like a warning when you try to undock with an insufficient clone. Lost my Black Ops 5 because of this silly system.

While I am sorry for your loss, it's not a silly SYSTEM.

It was silly OF YOU not to remember to update your clone.

I understand both points of view. Reviewing my killboard losses in Aldrat in a 42 minute period; I lost 5 ships and 2 pods. I must have updated only one of the two clones . I think having a "Clone Warning" prior to undocking would have been helpful :)

or the ability to "queue up" clones or auto update them

1.) Queueing up would be simple pay the price for each clone and your new clone is of the same grade you purchased
2.)Auto updating would simply charge you the same price that you would pay, ie. you get podded and automatically have a 25 mil deduction (not enough isk equals no auto updating clone)

Oh, Do go on... no seriously ive got nothing better to do then listen to all the petty arguments and feeble trolling attempts...

The sad thing is i'm not sure if i'm telling the truth.

Sure. Anything else? We would not wish for you to depend on yourself for anything. That way anything that happens is CCP's fault. Sweet.

I like Evemon for it tells me my clone sucks. Would be nice if you got sent a mail or something when your clone is no good though. As most people buy one and forgot about it. Know several people that have lost a month long skill because of it. Should it tell you every time you undock? No thats excessive. One little mail would suffice. Regardless, evemon tells me and I always buy a stupidly higher clone than needed.

EVE has an unavoidable warning box before aggressing someone in hisec. The only penalty for doing this is minor sec standing hit and loss of ship.

EVE has a warning box (which can be avoided in the future via ignore checkbox) before you try to jump to lowsec. The only penalty for doing this is maybe engaging in unexpected PvP.

There is NO warning box (ignorable or otherwise, at any time) for undocking with an insufficient clone. The penalty for doing this can mean hours, weeks, days, or months of lost skilling time - which unlike the above cannot be replaced by any means. This is pretty inconsistent. And adding such a warning box would be straightforward to implement, unobtrusive, helpful to new pilots, and would in fact not ruin anyone's fun (not even yours).

Don't **** on people for making simple, logical suggestions. Unless it's your intention to wear trollface?

I have a feeling these warnings were intended for noobs who are new to the game. They didn't want a day old player shooting someone in high sec or going to low sec wondering why he died at the gate. There is no insufficient clone warning because they figured once you got past the 900K SP of your basic clone you already understand the basic concepts of the game.

One of my friends suggested that there should be a way to lock out the ability in high sec to attack someone. Just like you can lock overload status. It is very easy if you're not paying attention to close the warning box or hit enter... both have the same result since the default is to allow you to attack... you loose your ship to concord. Not good if you're flying something you don't intend to suicide gank in lol.

I have not lost a ship in this way but I know people who have and for some reason CCP doesn't believe you when you try to convince them that you really weren't trying to suicide gank in a one billion ISK ship. Don't all suicide gankers fly shiny ships?

I vaguely recall something from fanfest where they were considering implementing some sort of lockout system to go with the new crimewatch system.

Another thing you have to be careful is if you set auto pilot to lowsec it will take you there without the warning. At least it used to. Before they made it where you can warp to and jump all in one click I would set auto pilot then turn it on after I was in warp to the gate. This way it would jump on landing.

Well I wasn't paying attention flying my CNR and set auto pilot to a system spelled similar to where I wanted to go. As soon as I jumped I realized my mistake. Good thing I didn't panic and do what my first instinct said to do... This was to burn the 12 km to the gate. I calmly warped 100 km from a belt and back to the gate. As soon as I warped away from the gate a Hurricane landed. If I tried to burn to the gate he would have tackled me for sure.

That is a hard lesson to learn! Is there a pattern to what skill you will lose? Is it the highest level 5? At least it doesn't take you down to what your default clone holds... 900k SP

You lose SP from the skill with the most SP invested in it. The maximum amount of SP you can lose is either the difference between your current total SP and your clone SP, or one level in that skill.

Among the skills I lost in the past were Wing Command V and Weapons Upgrades V... not a pleasant experience.

I lost a skill level once, but that was because my Legion asploded and I forgot to eject first.
