Pick a ship - frigates are good, learn to fly it - properly - as opposed to being able to move it, have fun.

About that Navitas, it's a typical new player fit, and nothing wrong with newb fits we all started out as crappy fitters even the most experienced people.

But:

1) Try to stick with 1 type of guns, you mix Projectile (Minmatar) and Gallente (Hybrid) guns on the ship. In general rule (but not exclusively)
- Gallente = Drones / Blasters (Hybrids)
- Caldari = Missiles / Railguns (Hybrids)
- Amarr = Lasers
- Minmatar = Projectile

2.) Civilian Shield boosters are crap, upgrade to normal small shield booster as soon as you can. It does work better, but keep in mind (again general, not a must do):

Amarr and Gallente = Armor tanking
Caldari = Shield tanking
Minmatar = depends on the ship for shield or armor / speed tanking (and pray the gods that the ship doesn't fall apart).

3.) Each ship in EVE gets a bonus to a certain thing, some it's shield bonuses, some it's weapon damage. The navitas for instance gets bonuses to mining. So it's best used as a miner (until the planned change that is), doesn't mean it can't do anything else but some other ships in Gallente fleet of frigates might do the job better.

Try to find out which bonuses a ship gives as it sorts of tells you which type of ship it will be and where it is best used for.

Great thread, lots of good advice and intelligent commentary. Eve probably isn't the right game for the OP, though.

I too remember being wtfpwned in low-sec and not going back for months. Now I relax when I make the last jump from 0.0 into the safety and comfort of 0.1. Lol
