Just felt the need to share. Except for a few close family members and dear friends I have not told a soul. Figured it would be safe to shout it at the top of my lungs on here using a unattached character. I would be afraid someone would be able to find me through my real characters if I posted with them. I am still kind of floored by it all but damn, it does feel good.

So now I am 28ish mil in the black now and have gone on a donating spree to a bunch of local charities annonomously . Of course my real close friends and family have been taken care of and my partner and I are house hunting and planning many many trips overseas to see the world. It has been a hectic two weeks with all of the paperwork, meetings with my wealth manager ( that still makes me laugh. I have a a friggin wealth manager WTF!). Main idea is to have most of the money invested wisely and live off the interest plus x amount set aside for doing stupid stuff.

So what stupid/fun stuff should I do. Give me ideas people. Yes I'm going to still play eve because money or not it's fun.

We are actually looking into that. Not a trip to the space station or anything. I don't have that much money. Looking at something like what virgin is doing with their spaceplanes trips. Sadly no one is operating passenger trips yet but I plan on doing it as soon as it is available.

You don't have to do it tomorrow. Since you're still young and the industry is just starting to become a reality, give it 5 to 10 years to mature and then look at your options again. Even in the best case scenario, it'll still be a luxury most people can't ever afford and by then some of the initial problems have been ironed out.

I am no rush. I know it will happened sooner or later. Plenty of things to do to keep me occupied in the mean time. Already planning on getting my pilots license. Always been a dream of mine to be able to fly and own my own plane. Now I have the time and money to do it .

No I won't be buying plex for everyone. My best friend who I play eve with gave me an idea of something to do for the Eve community. I am currently thinking about it.

Assuming you are telling the truth and you did indeed win the lottery, stop with the "taking care of" things, don't act as if you're wealthy (you're not even rich, you just have a decent amount of money).

There are far more former lottery winners that end up in a couple of years a lot worse than they were before winning the lottery, because they think the huge winnings will last forever, then blast through them like it's nobody's business, then end up broke and in debt.

Set aside AT LEAST a third, preferably half of your winnings into extremely low risk (and low gains) investment from which you draw a modest but decent income, then do whatever else you might have wanted to do with the rest.

Dont be one of those people that gets screwed by the lottery. If you didnt get a lump sum remember that you only have the money when you get it. If you die before all the money gets to you, your family doesnt get it

I don't live in the USA. The country where I am from when you win the lottery you get all the money that is advertised and taxes are already factored in. I won't be one of those lottery horror stories because as I have said a certain amount is set aside and we will live off of the interest that is accumulates. The rest will go into various investments and such and we have X amount that will be "mad money" every year. I plan on the money not just making us comfortable but our children and hopefully their children. The one house we really love that we are thinking of buying is not even anything fancy and in fact is a bit of a fixer upper. Neither of us see the need to blow money on some useless McMansion.

Seen to many people go nuts with sudden wealth and don't plan on following in their footsteps but, I appreciate the advice. Won't be playing Santa Clause going through space handing out Plex or isk. If I do something kind of want it to be something that lasts. Maybe a Goonaggedon lol. I kid I kid... but I will throw some money at something that will be fun and will keep going in Eve. I have played for many years and would be kind of cool to leave my mark here even though no one will know who I really am in game.

Keep most of your money in a cash account. You have so much, there is absolutely no need for you to take any risk with it. You can protect against inflation by looking at government-backed instruments, such as fixed-term fixed-return government certificates. If you put anything into equity or gilts or corporate bonds, you're a silly billy. (PS. I was a highly successful wealth manager until I retired aged 33). This isn't to do with the markets or the economy, it's to do with the insane amount of money you have and the complete lack of need to take risk to grow it even larger. Unless your situation demands something different, but that would be unusual! Good for you and your family - now you can spend loads of time with them instead of stuck in a ****** job (aren't they all!).

Buy a yacht and a crew...sail around....or buy a train car. I'd probably just travel like it was going out of style. Maybe invest in a few kick starter companies too. Also have to find some sort of job thats fulfilling. Else fear of becoming a Paris Hilton type devoid and hollow.

Someone told me they knew a rich guy who just keeps going to school part time (2 classes or so a semester) just what ever tickles his fancy.

Oh yeah hunt man...the deadliest game.

Traveling used to be a big part of my life until about 5 years ago and tbh I actually miss it. I used to apply to work on freighters to earn my way around. This is one aspect I would seriously consider for the op. Pick a location on the globe and go.

I spend time with several friends who live the college life now and there is older gentleman, 87 years old, who has been going to college for almost 20 years. He has accumulated almost 4 bachelors in 4 different fields. Says he does it to kill time and keep his mind sharp, and supposedly is a good way to stave off strokes.

Wow congrats dude

Not much advice I can give except to make sure your investments are well diversified. Couldn't think of anything worse than trying to safely invest it in something only to see that investment crash in value a few years down the track.

There should be a rather awesome pic here
