My First BPO

So while running missions, I got my 1st BPO. I was going to sell it and didn't see it on the market. I checked contracts and there are maybe 9 contracts for it, but for a copy not the original. Copies are selling at 400 million? And the item itself is on the market with a lot of orders daily being filled, selling at 9 million each. I looked at making a copy, the wait time is at around 10 days to before I can make a copy. Any thoughts on what I should do here? Should I sell it, copy it, or do some more online research into what invention and efficiency does for me? I haven't done any industry yet, so I was thinking maybe giving that a go. /shrug

Note: I am withholding the name right now simply because I don't want a flood of emails with offers if it is in fact a rare bpo.

Do you want to be an industrialist? If so, it sounds like a nice BPO to build a business around.

If not, I'd suggest heading over to the auction forum here on the website and seeing how those are run.

To be honest, it sounds very strange. Are you sure it is a BPO and not a BPC?

ETA: Is there a T2 version of the module? You could look into doing invention as well.

OK, my bad. I thought last night it was a BPO but now looking at it, it is indeed just a BPC. Boo. It has 300 runs, so I will just go ahead and make the items to sell. Thank you for your input. I will pay closer attention next time too.

What BPC was it, incidentally?

Large Ancillary Shield Booster. 300 runs.

It's not 300 runs. That's the default max runs for a module blueprint copy, not the runs it actually has available - iirc, the max for those is 50. I forget the full range of possible values - 3, 25, 50? Might be a 10 in there, too.

You need to look at the "Licensed production runs remaining" field. That's how many runs you have.

Oh man. LOL My hopes went from high to medium to low just like that. LOL Thank you. OK so not 300 runs. lol

Also, it is not rare, and the high price on them is an utter work of fiction. It's high because they are new. Many of the BPCs on contract have a per-run price that outstrips the revenue (nevermind the profit) of the modules themselves. If you're going to build and sell, I would advise you to do it asap because they are almost certainly going to normalize at a far more reasonable price point.

This is absolutely true. If you can get in before it tanks, you can make some money.

I pulled a Reactive Armor Hardener (new module) 3-run BPC out of a high-sec Mag site yesterday morning. I quickly produced all three copies (material cost for each one was somewhere between 350K-500K ISK) and was able to sell them at 18.5M ISK each. Scarcity and speculation are good things if you're on the right side of both of those lines.

ETA: Incidentally, OP you mentioned you got it while running missions. Do you know what rat dropped it? Most of these seem to be seeding through mag sites, but there are a number of reports of rogue drones dropping them as well.

As a matter of fact, I do believe it was a level 2 drone mission. Thanks for the info, hopefully I can sell them before the price drops, I will be closer to getting into my first battlecruiser. :)
