I would advise against training for a Raven - if you have low SP you want to train skills that are useful in a variety of situations.
Training for a basic Drake and then switching to Minmatar is a sound decision - Drake, Hurricane, Tempest, Maelstrom are all popular ships.
Only train for a Raven if you want go for a Scorpion - otherwise the cruise missile skills are useless and rokh fleets aren't nearly common enough to justify training caldari battleship for a new character.

What really sucks is the guys who have 15-20m SP and join a pvp corp/alliance thinking they are now (finally!) useful - only to find out that training straight for Gallente ships was maybe not the best decision and that nobody is interested in their special snowflake rail Brutix.
Even if you don't plan to do pvp any time soon, make your training decisions with common pvp doctrines in mind.

Not sure if trolling or a copy paste error but why on earth would you fit Heatsinks on a Maelstrom when Gyrostabs are the obvious choice for 800's?

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

My damage output in a drake isn't too bad right now ^^

Isn't brilliant, but I can at least kill stuff :D

And I have a noctis to salvage..So.. I think it's worth it ^-^

Level 4 missions require that you pay attention and that you have tanking skills and good drone skills. You can use almost any battleship in a Level 4, but if you don't have the back up skills (the various armor or shield compensation skills for instance) the damage that gets spewed upon you can make life absolutely miserable. I have a dead Machariel from not heading that advise because I thought the Mach would make up for my mediocre skills, it didn't. A bliion isk kick to the ego sucks (stupid jamming and warp scrambling frigates).

Drones can save your assets. Read up on the mission before you accept it: http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports

Note the names of anything that webs and scrams. I shield tank and always use two mission specific hardeners at the very least. The only time I use invuls in a mission anymore is Dread Pirate since the spawns are random.

As far as ships go, I fly Minmatar, but I took a drive down missile lane to see what it was like, and to be honest I found it boring. An AB or MWD on a gun BS can run away from the mission (kiting) and pop ships like mad while they sit at near zero transversal. The drone deal with the ones that get through.

My two isk.

Oh, here is the Mach I was using. Cheap 'rare' parts to keep the gankers from being interested. Not cap stable, but I have over 20 minutes of cap with my skills (and not all fives either) which is more than enough. Forgot to list drones, but usually Aclolytes and Hobs IIs with Warriors for Angels. I rarely carry anything but light drones, my worry is the small fast stuff, not the big slow stuff. The 800mm ACs deal with ships pretty quick. You can also get in to knife range and enjoy the fight (I think I have my orbit set to 17km and my 'keep at distance' set to 1000km (to run away and get zero transversal).

i started L4s with a T1 drake and no supports skills, dragging my rusty old hurricane fitted out with salvagers, tractors, nanos, and cargo extenders. i had a blast and lost like 4 drakes, but ive made a ton of isk, learned ALOT about fitting ships, and i have the same old hurricane for salvage.

I generally mission with a blaster-fitted Proteus. Just because I like dogfighting and I like chasing down enemy ships and opening the hatches and shooting the pirates in the face, at the same time sticking my head out the window and yelling "WHEE! WHEE WHEE WHEE! WHEEEEEE"" at the top of my lungs.

The First Rule of Flying: Love. You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' before she keens. Makes her a home.

with the new drone damage mods, I'd imagine that the domi is getting to be pretty frightening. it was very nice before them, and now they can get probably 30-50% more damage.
only time I lost a domi was when I accidentally pulled about 5 waves at once and couldn't take out the scrams fast enough.

Set the shield booster to auto-repeat off. If your second click to turn it off doesn't register and it stays on, say goodbye to your cap.

Straigh answer, you asked for a PVE and mission ship, so ignore the pvp stuff, get a raven, is cheap and will do the stuff adequately, it will suck for pvp, but again you asked for PVE.

now the maelstrom suggestion is a good one actually, just … make sure you fit gyrostabilizers not heatsinks…

and Tech 2 arty can do some nice hits, specially the 1200 are good for medium range, and quake ammo works great for very close flying targets.

if you got spare isk for something beffier then go for a tengu or nighthawk. nighthawk is basically a slightly buffed up drake.

derp, should be gyrostabs.

in my defense, I lost my stored fittings a few months ago and threw this together in EFT at 1am.

I'm editing the previous post to correct the mistake.

Most are do-able, but it takes forever. Wouldn't recommend it.
