What is the logic behind not being able to change race and/or faction?

I understand why we aren't allowed to change name (for instance, I created this character when a picture represented me; now I am a person, an avatar, but I have no name to represent that person) but I don't understand why we aren't allowed to change race and/or faction for a small USD or ISK fee.

I mean, come on! I AM A MINMATAR, and I can't change that, and I have nightmares, and I want Mijano to be Caldari.

Putting my subjective and highly emotional tears aside over choosing New Eden's version of early homo sapiens dancing 'round a fire in awe, why is it such a big "no-no" for changing faction? When Incarna came the different races within New Eden received personalities which previously didn't exist. Yes, we had lore, and I had probably watched too much Spartacus the summer before I registered my entirely own slave-born freedman, but the avatar gave us personality, and in due time we will walk 'round in stations interacting with each other using these personalities which our racial appearance is a fundamental part of.

Why is it such a big "no-no" even after Incarna which essentially and fundamentally changed how we perceive our characters?

I'm surprised you managed to read through my entire post considering the lack of braincells you're showing off.

I was going to argue with you, but then I realized we drop into a new clone every time we die.

I have.

I am not interested in your subjective views on the matter. I want to know why it's such a big "no-no" equal to changing our character name, which we aren't allowed to do since our names have reputation within New Eden. Changing faction wouldn't create consequences and I don't see why points with agents couldn't be swapped to the equivalent amount in another faction.

You should be ashamed. Wanting to go from a proud matari to a corporate scum rat Caldari pilot.

Many games lets people change faction and whatever point a character has scored for his or hers faction receives an equivalent amount of points in the factions he or she is changing into.

I am not interested in what you people think about this. I am interested in why it's such a big deal for CCP considering a) they would earn more money and b) it would not alter the game in a negative way since we identify dearest friend and foulest enemy through the name we gave ourselves at EVE-birth.

Are there no moderators on these forums? Where was Darwin when evolution brought you people forth? He would be so disappointed.

What a proud race we are; letting ourselves become enslaved by religious fanatics!

Does race make a difference? I'm not even sure if the races have a different Ava generator. Although I am open to be corrected on that. I have wracked my (admittedly small) brain and can't think of what difference it makes.

I'd come down on the anti side I'm afraid, because I wouldn't want EVE working on something that makes no difference to game play. (Thats not an invite for any muppets to start a bitchfest) If it was an easy fix then fine, no harm no foul., But I would have a sneaky suspicion it would be a lot of work.

Good thing that there is no “score” for your “faction” in this game, then. That kind of removes the need to make any such changes.

What's the problem with being minmatar?
If you want to sell out to the Caldari, just do so.

You would confuse the **** out of your agents. "Same name but clearly a different person, yeah, seems legit." - Your typical agent.

Well, my essential point is that race now has a bigger meaning than it did before thanks to us being avatars. What we chose was never a faction because we joined player corporations with ethnic diversity where race and faction never was an issue, but it changed; we went from babies to people; we gave ourselves a personality by how we chose to let other people view us - and faction suddenly starts to matter other than if we wish to cross-train or not.

I don't think it would be that much work from CCP's side.

Op I think you should just skill yourself ... for Caldari

All that matters is skills and standings, character race is totally irrelevant. If you care so much then change your avatar to look as Caldari as possible and nobody will ever know or care. Otherwise just train an alt.
