I don't think that the 1907 Entente or the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk are relevant to the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. It's clear from documents declassified in 2009, collected by the NKVD, that England and France attempted to direct German aggression towards Russia. However I doubt Stalin had any illusions that the german corporal would honour the pact: knowing the corporal's hatred of communists, and his frequent betrayals. They were both buying time. Germany canny enough not to want to fight on two fronts, the soviets capitalising on this.
