We wanted to make an epic mercenary market place but a while back we realized we wouldn't have time to do everything. That's why we ended up with the simple ally system. We would rather make sure the war mechanics and war reports along with the kill reports would be functioning and nice.

The best way to find a war you want to help out in is to go to the All Wars tab and check the box to see wars where the defender has requested assistance. That said, I should note that you can also offer your help in a war where the defender hasn't requested assistance.

A defender can show info on the ally and there see his whole war history, it should help with deciding on if you want those guys to help you out or not.

Hope you still like what we got there for you and I hope we will have some time to iterate on it in the future, a proper mercenary marketplace would be so awesome!

Thanks for answering that for us, so we can expect an actual merc market in the near future more along the lines of what was advertised as a feature for incarna?

heh Incarna? I don't remember what was advertised for that but I can't tell, it's not my callBig smile

Incarna, Inferno...bah one of them lol

I recall one night in a nightclub called the matrix, there I was... Mother of god there I am! Holy f**k.

limited timeframes kill games.

The epic merc market was cut due to time constraints and the need to push out x number of expansions per year.

TBH its a nice idea to give us all 4 expansions a year, and they are all good expansions, but some features and ideas like the Merc Market deserve some work of their own. I really hope they add this into the next expansion

Its for war dec mechanics, not a merc market for any other reason. If it was a proper merc market, it could possibly be made for situations beyond war decs but just like a proper bounty hunter system, its not likely even on CCPs planning horizon.

but its rare to see a meaningful war being initiated via a war dec

The bug reports I submited on the other thread are they bugs or featuresTwisted

not sure what you're talking about. also it's 1am on a Holiday so I'm obviously not at the office and not looking at bug reportsP

This is one of the things I really dig about CCP - you all seem to have such a passion for what you do. I feel that there are very few jobs where an employee would browse forums, let alone reply to concerns regarding product features and this is just one small example among many. Well done sir, I hope to have nearly as much passion in my work as you seem to have in yours.

Maybe if you spent some time on the test server before the expansion is released you could have given them this feedback.

Thanks for the directions.
I don't mind taking initiative, I just don't always have time to play little researcher.

Quick display of damage bars for each side when you click the war history tab.
This allows you so assess at first glance what sort of damage was done and would determine whether you double-click on a particular war to see more details.
Nothing is more annoying to than to go through each of the wars in the list, trying to ascertain if damage had been done at all.

Alternatively, on the glass half-full/half-empty concept, you could instead just flag those wars with zero damage betweeen both parties with a chicken fighting/pony/my little kitty icon.
Make it as cute as possible. Big smile

Thanks for stopping by and replying in this thread.

I must make you aware that there are few nuances of the new "Ally system" that are not working well imo. They would not take much to fix so I hope you guys can tweak them in a way that works for all.

I detail an example of the problem here...
