I would like to join the Caldari FW but I am afraid my ship would be too weak. What would be the minimum choice of ship should i be using to join FW and would be able to contribute and not get blow up often?

Thanks.

P.S. 1.4mil SP, currently on a Caracal for PvE lvl 2 missions. Getting a Drake once skill training done in a week.

There you go, useful addition to most roaming cruiser gangs. Fit core extender rigs if you can afford it. Drones dont matter much since you can only fit two. Either put warriors for damage or play gamble with hornet-ecm. Might even get some use from new light webber drones to help you kite stuff.

They buffed the merlin's tank , another cheap option for minor plexes.

I guess once you have a signature, you cannot have a blank one.

That looks very much (or all too well) like a fit Damar Rocarion flies. This is a very good fit and cheap for what it can do. Saw 2 operating in Vif (by Damar and Yuri Intaki) and I recommend it. Can hold its own against frigs through cruisers.

That might be because you just quoted an alt of Damar's ;)

There are no Damar alts posting in this thread. Honestly...

Every ship has its uses and no matter what you can fly, you'll be able to assist. When I first joined Faction War I could only fly destroyers and frigates, but I learned real fast that destroyers are useful, especially in minor plexes.

Don't be afraid of being too weak. It's all fun and games and I'm sure the Caldari will welcome a new pilot. After that it's just getting the skills higher and getting the experience. Look forward to seeing you on the battlefield.

Merlin is all you need. The new low slot and 3rd turrent have made it a beast - 200.6 dps with T2 Ions (more with maxed skills). Was approx 127 dps before the patch.

Kestrel is great for offensive plexing with an mwd + light missile fit. (But don't get close to the rats)

Don't worry about your low SP. It makes much less difference than most people presume. Just get everything you need to lev4 and then train the stuff you really want or use lots to 5.

I have join the Caldary militia today, and i have a question to. Should i do security misions for the Caldari Navy or for the milita ?
I know that i get more isk and LP for doing the misions for the militia but the misions objectives are far away, what takes more time to complete them and there is always a chance that i fly in a gate camp...
Im only interested in misions for the isk grinding so that i can be self sufficient.

I actually think FW is the very best place for a low SP char who wants to PVP. If you fly Merlins, Kessies or Cormorants then you can get into minor complexes. That means only tech 1 frigates and destroyers can come in and fight you.

If you get in a fleet with other militia members then the Griffin frigate is also very useful to ECM jam any enemies who come after you. An old mate of mine used to fly them all the time and he was a great asset to the team.

EXPECT TO DIE A LOT early on though, while you learn the ropes of small ship PVP. I'd suggest you find a cheap fit for a merlin or kessie that you like and fit out 6-10 of them. Take them out one at a time and get them blown up. Learn how to get your pod out of the fight when you lose. etc.

Good luck, and fly reckless. :D

A well fit Merlin or Caracal is more welcome then a poorly fit drake in most fleets.

Don't do the missions at all - you can now earn isk while helping the faction and helping yourself get a better LP store bonus all at the same time.

Capture offensive plexes for LP. Save em up until we have good store bonuses. Spend em fast.

Repeat

You will have more isk than you need in no time.
