Hey,

Looking to bounce some ideas off people, get some advice and that.

I am fairly new to EVE, around 4 months old with around 5m SP, thinking of doing my first remap.

I'm Gallente, mostly running in a Dominix, and mostly a mission runner.

What I'm unsure about is what stats to go with first, should I aim to boost my drone skills to get Drone Interfacing to L5 and Sentries to L5 to use t2 Sentry turrets.

Should I go into Gunnery, with this I would also be able to get Gallente Battleship up to L5 also?

Or should I work more on my tank, I mainly armour tank, but having some skills with shields wouldn't hurt also, although that's definitely at the back of the line for me.

Any advice, tips or whatever? Been thinking about this for a few days now, fairly difficult to work out a proper long term plan.

Once you can fit a T2 armor tank, you're pretty much golden. Focus on damage dealing/utility/nav skills first as they'll will make you finish missions faster. I'ld say T2 sentries and drone interfacing V are a must if you're serious about flying a domi.

P.S.: with the new drone damage mods, a active shield tanked (navy) domi might become the new gold mission running standard. I wouldn't know this at all but perhaps it's prudent to wait if this turns out.

If you don't have your bonus remaps and you want a good general map that can last you a year, put about half your points in Perception and split the remainder between Intelligence and Memory. That'll ensure that you can train whatever you want in drones, offensive skills, and core/defensive skills without ever really worrying about it.

If you still have your bonus remaps, burn one remap and a few months on all memory and get all your drone skills out of the way, then fall back on an even int/perception map to train up your ship skills, defenses, and guns.

That's my recommendation anyhow, with the new attribute system there's not really a huge difference in skill training times based on attributes. Obviously if you have two remaps you can do a full Mem and then do drones, then a Full Int and do all your int skills, etc, but that level of focus tends to make things kinda boring when you're a new player.

I long ago decided to skip the super-efficient remap circus, because it forces me to plan long time and basically bars me from training certain core skillz while I'm in the wrong part of the (yearly, AFAIK) remap cycle.

So I just did one remap, once and for all, and I don't expect ever to remap again. I dumped Charisma as low as possible, and then I distributed my points evenly between the four other attributes.

This means I'm free to be spontaneous, change my mind, and I can train whatever I want, without feeling the urge to postpone any trainings to next year (i.e. when I'm in the other part of the cycle).

Sure, it's less efficient. I acrue fewer SP per year, this way. But it suits me well, and I recommend it to other players as well. It's nicely liberating.

It has been the same for me I've never used a remap because my char has been sort of a jack of all trades since the start and I like it that way. This allowed me to not worry about my skill plan and just train all the stuff that I enjoyed doing in eve. Only now Am I starting to reach a point where the skills and the plans I have become long enough to justify a remap (at aoround 60/65 mill sp) . So I did one a few months ago, but not to the point of totally unbalancing my attributes.

The advice i give to newer players (OP u still reading?) is generally that it's best to keep your attributes spread out, because there is an overwhelming number of different skills to train at the start and versatility for me has meant fun, and specializing in something only becomes more important when you're char grows older.

Because of this I dont think the current remap system is a very good one. And I wouldnt mind if CCP removed it again entirely, or maybe just give you a fixed number of 2 or 3 for your entire eve live.
