There are some that are happy with the change so i'm looking for you for help.

I mine a lot. Up until yesterday, docking and unloading ore was a three step process.
1) Click on one ore in my cargohold window (which was always open in the lower left)
2) Ctrl-A to select all ore in cargohold.
3) Click-drag the 1/2 inch to the Items icon on the Neocom bar to the left.
4) Click on Undock button in lower left.

I would then click on the Undock button. This whole process took all of about 4 seconds.

Could one of you that mine for a living and like the new UI, please tell me how you accomplish the above with the new UI? I'm just not able to figure it out and I need to if I'm going to keep playing EVE as this is a procedure that I do hundreds of times a week.

Thanks.

shift click to open a 2nd window or drag and drop the stack to the proper location on the tree just like you used to, only you're not dragging the stack to the neocon

its like windows

when having the inventory window open in the station you can see the name of your mining ship. On the left you can also see your item hanger. Click on the name of your mining ship, then click and drag the ore to the item hanger, and let go of the mouse button.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Yeah, it's freaking awesome. Easier than right clicking on the Orca over and over to open windows, just shift click the sub items under the Orca. Derp.

Please note that ASCII art is not permitted in the forum signatures. Spitfire

I'm old and slow. Could you describe it step by step as I did in my OP? As of yesterday, when I docked my cargohold was open. Now it isn't.

Idk, it's not that bad but I think their time is better spent elsewhere. Most of the responses I see range from mildly annoying to "meh", Then the occasional unsub threats.

If I had the option I'd like the old item UI back tbh.

That I doubt very much.

OK.... come into station...

1) Alt-C (brings up new Items UI)
2) click on current ship in tree to open cargohold (hard to find the small icon, remember the "old" part)
3) click on an ore in the cargo-hold
4) Ctrl-A (select all ore)
5) Click-drag ore to tiny little items icon in the tree
6) click on undock button.

Does that sound about right?

6 steps vs 4, unless I'm missing something. 50% increase in workload to accomplish the same relatively simple task. I also found that I had to be really careful when dragging the ore to the items icon or it would expand the Ships icon and in some cases move the Items icon off the bottom of the window.

Anyone have a better workflow for me to try?

Yeah, I would as well. I know many who are unhappy with the new system (like me, I hate it so far) would like an option to use the old one, but I imagine that would be a coding nightmare. Unless I can figure out a decent work flow for all the repetitive tasks that I do in game, I won't resub the 3 accounts that I unsubbed today.

So I appreciate the responses that are helping me figure this out. I'd just as soon keep playing.

to use the new interface you have to stop thinking about how can i move all this stuff and keep it organized .

you have to think less .

how can i move my stuff ?

simple just drag and drop !!

all those other questions just stop right there !!

you do not need any more than what has been provided for you.

if you are struggling, you are trying to do to much . just do one thing at a time . multitasking is so 1990's anyways .

Well, I'm just trying to do what I did before as quickly and easily as I used to. What was 4 easy steps, is now 6 not-as-easy steps. That is annoying.

Imagine if CCP changed the interface so that it took two extra mouse steps to target something? Maybe CCP could add the overview to the Items window. To target something all you have to do is:
1) Alt-C to bring up the Items window
2) Shift-Click to open the potential target window
3) Ctrl-Click to target the ship you want.

Only two extra steps over what we do now. What could be the harm...? What?

Anyway, thanks for the assistance everyone. With your help, and practice, I've now got it down to a cumbersome and annoying 6 step process to unload ore and undock.

I have yet to go to the POS and do anything, try to jet can, transfer stuff between characters, or salvage. I'm sure those will also take additional steps as well and be more cumbersome. But hopefully I'll figure those out as well with help.

Soooo maybe I'm missing something about your original process, but I think all you need to do now is:

- Alt+C OR double-click hangar background (opens items window with your cargo hold automatically selected)
- Select something in cargo hold, Ctrl+A to select all
- Drag to "Item hangar" in the tree on the left side and drop it there

Done.

I think? I mean, that works for me, and it's mega-fast.

(I <3 the new inventory)

For me I'm finding that my cargo window for my current ship stays open so if i were doing the same thing it'd still take 4 steps for me...

1. open inventory
2. click on asdf™ (or whatever your ship name is)
3. click and ctrl+a your cargo
4. drag to item hanger

Welcome to the new ui philosophy of this decade. while it may take you more clicks to accomplish simple tasks this procedure is now much easier and more intuitive . It has been demonstrated that users get a slight serotonin release every time, they click the mouse . with this new interface you are provided more serotonin per minute than with the old interface so therefore it is more enjoyable to use.

Also to aid those who may be experiencing trauma and rage from this new experience there is help available .

Rife Machine Plus

this device will ease your pain, anxiety, depression, disappointment and other ailments . and best of all it adds more clicks to your user experience, so more serotonin !!
