I know you're against it. Most people without 100m SP will be against it, because the idea scares them, or they feel it will unbalance Eve. However I talk to a lot of people who are over 100m SP, and many are for it.

(p.s. when you get to 100m SP, tell me if you still feel that flying more of the same ships everyone else can fly is an *advantage*)

Consider that the number of accounts in Eve above 100m SP is around 10,000 out of what, 400k subs? Of those 10,000, I'd say more than half are unsubscribed. This is because there's little reason or draw to keep training above that point. I would like to add a reason.

(p.s. 2: You say my motivation is flying new ships frequently. I counter that my motivation is to fly ships few others can. The last time ships were released with high training requirements was the introduction of T2 - where interceptors and HACs were added, and were vastly more powerful than their T1 equivalents. Not everyone could fly them immediately, and the veterans had a leg-up on getting them sooner. The change did not destroy Eve - it improved it)

Trust me, if you're starting to have children, you will NEED eve. Keep your character going, there will be times you will just need to have YOU time.

Im probably not too far away from a hundred million skillpoints but when I do reach them, I won't neccessarilly be clamouring for ships that only I and the select few can fly. Im more looking for new areas, mechanics/gameplay to keep me going such as dust 514 etc. They might work some more on WIS maybe.

I find the idea of a million skillpoint characters being able to become jovian and start over from 0 an interesting idea.
Doesn't mean that jovian ships would become the preserve of just jovians but only those with a million plus have a chance to become jovian

Good luck to the OP. Maybe if you skip around 4 expansions the game will be new to you again when/if you come back.
So the equivalent of missing out on Incursions, Incarna, Crucible and Inferno although maybe missing those particular expansions is for the best. CCP shouldn't begin their expansions with I ;)

To the OP.

You have done great work and helped make this more than a game - more like an epic sci fi series that we don't just watch.

I think you will be back in the future once there is a routine with the kid - perhaps in a few years when the kid is self-propelled and off diapers. I know quite a few hard core gamers who took a break from gaming because of a birth and there is nothing detrimental to that.

Right now the storyline, live events, and immersion content are quite dead. Live events were the only thing keeping me around, but there is hope they will return and I think it's a pattern. The game is going through a lot of content changes that have soaked up a lot of resources. For me it's skill queue online until the good times return, but they will return. But I suppose if I had 100m+ SP I too would take a break.

And there is no telling what the players will do. It's unfortunate these limitations of player events whereby the best we can do is something like Hulkageddon and Burn Jita (speaking of players in general and not myself or you specifically). It's something, but not enough.

Good luck in your endeavors. Perhaps you should disappear down a wormhole - toss the RPers a bone. Cool

I "only" got 80 M SP (all sub cap in all races with about all ship skills to 5 and all tanking and weapons to 5 except some spec skills), but I would like to some ships using all the racial skills for one ship. Kind of like a "super" pirate faction ship.

Sad to see you go. I hope you will keep the Lorebook available, even though you quit the game. EVE Online needs every lore resource available, because CCP seems to be abandoning the lore and history part of this game more and more (dumping the old intro and drastically cutting number of chronicles).

Thanks for the efforts you have done for the community and good luck on your future endeavors.

Jowen, I usually don't respond to threads like this (as most quit threads are full of rage) but I feel I should wish you some good RL luck with your new family.

I think CCP's virtual abandonment of the lore and history (including the stealthy termination of Dropbear) is most likely the secondary reason he is leaving (primary of course being family).
