ccp's eVe developing goals don't seem to be to stream line the eVe client and to be realistic(ex: If I ram my Orca into a rock in the void of space, that rock should move, not the Orca becoming entagled in sum sort of invisible web).

Instead, the goal seems to be, to add more lag thru the use of smoke coming from missles. Is there a need for this? Do I need to see unrealistic, lagging, smoke coming from my missle? Do I need a different name for my missle at every 'update'?

The lag would only be client side, if your computer can't handle it... buy a new one or.... turn the effects off... (escape menu, it's been there for almost a decade now).

The new decals, textures, models, meshes, animations, effects, trails and so on are all processed beside or in front of you (where ever your system is located), on your own computer. The only operation that the server has to do with them is by giving them to you via download when you update, If you are not computer literate TLDR: The new launchers will not cause (extra) lag, lrn2IT and stop being a technology hermit in the Information Age.

My computer can handle it, but I'm also not goin to go out and purchase and install the latest hardware just because ONE software requires it for its bugs. The main question was "Why the need for UNREALISTIC smoke?" Does it turn u on to see it? And whats next? Flyin Purple People Eaters?

Eye candy.
Without smoke trails it looks very... bland.
Trust me, eve would look very bland and you would see even less than you would now if it was entirely realistic.

And you can turn it off, no need to buy new hardware.

My computer isnt the latest either, cost me 1000-2000 and can do just about everything, including multiboxing.

I can turn it off, ur right :)) what else should I turn off? ;p Do u know how to turn off the 'new' lame azz win7style inventory too? ;p

If these lousy updates continue, I'll turn off eVe altogether.....It's amazing when u think about it, when software first comes out, it's pretty good, but then as time goes on, idiots replace the original developers and the software goes to sh!t. Just because they use the word 'update' does not mean it's better..

AND... are u saying the Universe looks "bland" because there is no imaginary smoke in it?

do you really thing that lasers would be different colours? they would simply be one set colour and different 'thickness'

do you really think rails would be a blue 'bolt'?

do you really thing spaceships exist?

please go and play civilization or Sims for realism... even then that's not real... it's called a game for a reason.

Wait for CCP to put in window memory, then use the shift click feature. (they will im sure as it is a feature of ALL other windows in the game)
It will remember that you like the windows in their original state (you can make them almost exactly the same size/shape/display as the originals) and open them as such.
Go ahead and turn off eve, you probably need the break anyway, i know i do.
But leaving aint gonna fix anything, and nor is sarcasm or non-constructive criticism.

And YES, without the smoke, it would just be a tiny speck in the massive abyss of space with a tiny engine flare, not very noticeable unless you zoom in on it.

I spent some time playing with this new inventory system and have concluded that I don't like it much as-is.

Most of the time, I'm interested in having access to my ship hanger and item hanger by default when docked. However, in space I would rather not have a giant inventory window in the center of my screen every time that I undock. So, I close it. Then I dock and have to manually re-open it because the window doesn't retain different preferences for docked vs. undocked.

Additionally, it doesn't appear to remember when I've collapsed the ship hanger list on the left side of the window. The next time I dock, the list is expanded again. This means more clicks for me to get things back to the way that I want them.

Another problem I have is the fact that the icon/small icon/list setting is global across all views. I prefer to use icons for my ships, and list for the item hanger. That just isn't possible in the current implementation.

I haven't tried this with a mining op yet, but if what I've seen so far is any indication, I'm not convinced that I'm going to enjoy the experience.

When I fire a missle, the only thing I want to see is the target exploding, IDC what color the missle is, or if it has a zit on it ;p And I certainly don't need added strain on my system because of sum unreal effect.

Are u rly zooming in on ur missles? ;p lol

Didn't get as much eve time last night as I'd planned, but I did find it a bit annoying when I was moving some assets between characters. Some things, like not having to right-click my orca multiple times to get all the holds open, were nice. Others, like ships disappearing when I made them active (thus requiring MORE clicking than in the previous interface) weren't.

No task should take longer with a "new and improved" UI than it did in the previous UI. That's what "improved" means.

How long did it take CCP to give us ship spinning back? 10 months? a year+?
