Mutual War: What is the benefit

In the new war-dec system they said, "Another thing we’re looking into is to exclude the ally system from mutual wars – if a war has been made mutual, then no allies can be involved and existing ally contracts are cancelled. This mitigates a little the fact that now when a war is made mutual the only way for it to end is by surrender."

So I am wondering, what do you benefit from selecting Mutual War? It seems like it will limit your choices to only surrender. But surrender by who? Can the aggressor surrender?

Does the aggressor still have to pay the fee for the next week if the war is mutual?

I am trying to understand the reasons why a corp will want to choose Mutual War. Any answers?

Seems more like an ancillary feature, that likely will go widely unused, but for those who will use it will find it to be great if they want to set up some kind of permanent pvp between corporations. A RvB kinda thing (not familar with the exact current mechanics and setup of RvB, but this seems to fall in line with what I've seen it described as).

RvB is indeed a mutual war, as far as I understand it there is no aggressor in a mutual war AFAIK, no payment is needed to stay at war with each other, and there ought not to be, no need to bribe concord if we actually wanna fight after all. Also the current surrender mechanics are just Effed up, I have been in a great many wars, but not a single one of them has ever been resolved with the in game surrender mechanic.

Think of it like the old "bound" style fights. You tie yourself to your opponent and you both fight each other until 1 is defeated.

Most complaints on wars are from those who are looking for easy targets and those easy targets not wanting to be involved. When someone decides to pick a fight and their opponent is up for a fight -- setting it mutual means the aggressor no longer can just let it drop, someone has to surrender.

No costs associated with it anymore - simply who can handle the heat longer.

Usually wars end when the aggressor just gets tired of it and lets the war fade. Mutual means someone has to go in and end it. It won't go away by just ignoring it.
