Recruiting for a nullsec alliance

So I'm attempting to find some new recruits for my main's corporation. The problem is we're part of a largeish nullsec alliance, and other corps in the alliance have had problems with spies and awoxers in the past.

We've created a holding corp we can advertise ourselves as in order to throw off greifers specifically targetting our alliance, but that raises its own problems. If I were looking for a nullsec corp, I would probably think twice about joining one that only appears to have 5 members, and is a member of a no-name alliance with no sov!

So, I'd like to strike a balance. I can say in the recruitment thread that we're part of a "large nullsec sov alliance" and that they're not actually being recruited for the corp the poster is in, but they have only our word on that. Also if someone asks "which alliance", I'd be hesitant to give them a straight answer, which might put them off.

So, what do you think? How much should I give away, and how much should I keep to myself?

Just my opinion:

First, probably the wrong forum section. At least I hope a new player isn't the head of null recruitment.

Second, there's no real way to prevent spies, it's a part of any alliance. Asking recruits for their API may help scare off and/or weed out the dumber spies. I agree with you on the part about applicants being skeptical, there's so many options that I'd shy away from people who weren't upfront with me. Perhaps you should consult with the other CEOs who had spy problems, see if they have any hindsight recommendations. But I believe that the only real security is structuring your alliance/corp in a way that keeps critical info on a need-to-know basis, within reason.

You could try keeping an eye out instead of advertising. Check the recruitment forums for people asking for a new corp. If you approach them instead of the other way around, it'd be much less likely they're a spy.

Basically, you can't recognize a good spy. Don't compromise your recruitment to try to do that, weed out the obvious ones, and try to get as many good eggs as you can.

Best of luck, recruitment can indeed be tricky.

Every alliance has spies, get over it. Most of them only provide grunt tier intel and aren't a big problem.
What you really have to worry about are people in high leadership position who get sick about their alliance.
Those are the people who can really destroy you.

The awoxer problem...you can't fix that either, you have to live with it and provide fast intel about them, if they begin to awox.

tl;dr version: Recruit smart and have a vouch / recommendation system.
