Hello everyone, in terms of tech knowledge Im like a 5 of 10. The 5 being I know how to put things into and take things out of a computer but the hardware itself is like a foreign language.

What I do know now is that this computer, mine, cant run Eve Online. :( I just got a job recently that can change that though. I plan on buying a computer, at a fairly cheap price I hope that can run Eve and a few other High End games, they're high end to me.

Now I do have brand preference, and have looked around at computers.

^ This HP Omni looks nice and is a decent price for me but I dont even know if it can run the game.

I like HP and Dell. Lonova I dont really know much about.

Help me?

EDIT: BTW I need an all in one computer, not just for straight up gaming.

EDIT: Again, or I can make one on shopping.hp.com (Or something like that)

If you're into the all-in-one type computers, you could go and get yourself a HP TouchSmart, they're not that expensive, plus they have touchscreens and whatnot.

If that isn't your thing, and you have some extra money laying around, the largest of the 27" iMacs have good graphicscard, which can easily run EVE (even multiple clients) - you might have to install Windows on it to do so properly tho, lol..

Oh sorry I did forget to mention the budget. I'm really looking somewhere around $400-$500 USD.

I know at that price it wont be top of the line but it will get the job done, I hope.

You could buy an ipad2, and hope OnLive Desktop can play EVE Big smile

That thread doesnt really help because the budget they have is much higher then mine.

I mean it does show part names which could benefit me. I guess what I'm trying to say is would a new $500 USD computer be able to run Eve?

We can try..

I can get it down to about 522$ (give or take a few)..

Asrock H61DE Motherboard
500GB Caviar Green HDD
Core i5 2500k (with HD3000 graphics card)
1x4GB Kingston ValueRAM
Raidmax Mirage 278 Case (with 350W PSU)

Should run EVE, but barely..

You have a higher chance of getting a "good" machine if you actually buy it used from someone, lol Big smile

edit://
just tested my own HD3000 at 1920x1080 res with everything on high.

FPS:
Login: ~19
Char select: ~45
Ship spinning: ~30
Outside undock zoomed in: ~18
Outside undock zoomed out: ~41

So a HD3000 can def. run EVE, but yeah, dunno what would happen if you enter a fleet fight. it'd probably blow up :D

So I'm guessing I'd have to spend like $800 in order to get one that'll run it well?

Core i5 2500k (with HD3000 graphics card)

U actually get more FPS and a smoother game-play experience, by replacing the i5 with a "Intel Pentium G630" and spending the reminder on a "real" low or mid-range GPU like the GeForce GT 440/550Ti or a HD 6670. The CPU is more than enough, but a "real" GPU is what makes the difference in comparison to the intel HD3000 for gaming.

bye Andy

Ah just remembered a all-in-one HTPC that is also capable of playing games, at a affordable price. Its the ZOTAC ZBOX Giga ID70 Plus.

It has a GF430 low end card, but the GF430 is still around 80-200% faster than a HD3000, on top if that the Z-Box is a nice, small fully featured HTPC :p

bye Andy

Very true, those small all-in-one machines are very nice, just not very powerfull, or even the slightest bit upgradeable, lol..
